Band of the week: Green Mountain Rebels

Full story: The Morning Call

The Green Mountain Rebels are not a bluegrass band, despite their Americana-like name.

Hope your show went well. I am from NJ & my mother met Springsteen many years ago, her boyfriend at the time was a friend of his. My friend met him once down in Asbury Park on the street walking around, nice guy. I was at the Stone POny once but it was just ok. CBGBs was a much better place to hang out in. Met more musicians up in that area than any other place. Although I did talk to Joan Jett once at a NJ rest stop after seeing one of her shows. She was getting Burger King along with us.

Yup. I preferred CBGBs. We actually got thrown out of there once by Hilly Crystal, the owner. Boy was he ticked lol. Only problem with CBGB is the place was so DARK inside. I miss NY, met so many musicians there. I need to get back there one day.

I'm partial with cover bands. Bets one I've seen to dat is The Soft Parade, who does The Doors. I saw them once at The Rock & Roll Cafe on Bleeker Street in Greenwich Villege, where we used to hang out & then once at Club Bene in Sayreville, NJ. What a great band they are. If you ever want to experience what it was like to see the Doors live you must see these guys.

You are 85-90 miles away. There's Trans Bridge and Bieber if you do not want to drive. It's not hard at all.

In some cases yes it can be a good time. Overall, watching some jabronies playing garden variety music in sports bars is not my cup of tea.

Like Ray said, we are just having fun. We write some of our own songs and play them at our shows but most people prefer to hear something they know. If our playing covers entertains someone or helps them unwind from a stressful week at work then I would say we do serve a purpose. www.myspace.com/greenmountainrebels , next show is Jan 30 @ Rascals-- come check us out! Merry Christmas!

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Aquarius

Unfortunately it won't take much to get your wires crossed, especially if you're trying to keep track of your Christmas preparations. It's hard to work out what still needs to be done. A member of the family is away with the fairies or is being completely fanciful. It's a pest because that sort of behavior can make you feel anxious and harassed.
