Dodd Deal: Extra Perks On Mortgages

No wonder Sen. Christopher Dodd won't release documents related to the $800,000 in cut-rate mortgages he got in 2003 from Countrywide Financial , once the nation's largest mortgage lender.

Keep up the good work on this one Kevin.

It is clear that the drivebys would like to just ignore Senator Dodd's questionable mortgage activity just like they ignored Senator Edwards' daliances for the better part of a year.

This situation will persist as long as it does not hurt the Democrats and BHO's ability to be elected in November. If that occurs, expect that the Democrats will turn on Senator Dodd and the MSM will report on this.

Hopefully, the new media will demand answers from Senator Dodd as we know The Courant et al. will not.

Chris Dodd will release his loan documents about the time the poles melt.

He assumes, probably correctly, the press will forget his pledge and he'll skate on to bestowing more billions on the friends who bankroll his political ventures

Excellent reporting, Kevin. It might make readers of The Courant wonder, however, why you - in your part-time colmnist capacity - can research and write this so comprehensively, while the mighty Courant and its reporting/editorial staff cannot. They were slow to act on this scandal and have, typically, given Dodd a pass. Were he a Republican, Dodd would have been hammered for jay-walking. He's a Democrat, though, which means he can behave with absolute impunity as far as The Courant is concerned. Shameful! As for you ... keep up the good work.

What digging has been done? Rennie's sources are "former employees." Come on now! It is clear, as stated from Dodd's office, that a release of documents is coming soon. So, my question to Kevin and everyone who has posted attacks on Dodd is, if after the release it is proven that there was no favoritism received, will you all apologize?

If there was no favoritism then we should apologize.

But if there was, will you help vote him out?

"a release of documents is coming soon."

Sure. It's already been two months since the scandal broke.

Dodd's father's scandal in the 1960's was make public by his "former employees."

If Dodd received "no favoritism" why doesn't he just release ALL the documents?

Even the appearance of improprietary can't be tolerated for a man in his position. The honorable thing would be to resign.

These political essays passing as researched factual articles are the reason I stay unaffiliated with any political party. I don't need a political "hack" who confuses the symptoms of the mortgage industry collapse with its causes and then points a finger and tells me who's to blame. Would the author have shown me facts and not suppositions, then maybe I wouldn't question his credibility. I haven't seen any facts that demonstrate that Senator Dodd has done anything other than serve Connecticut and this nation to the best of his ability. If newspaper articles were rated on a percentage basis the same way Congress's approval rating is calculated, then this article would also be in single digits.

Your beef should be with Dodd, not Rennie. Dodd has the facts; he won't release them.

Why doesn't Senator Dodd respond to Mr. Feinberg's accusations?

How come Senator Dodd has not responded to Mr. Feinberg's comments?

HOW IS THIS FOR A FACT, SINCE 1989 OUR GREAT SENATOR SANDWICH DUDD HAS BEEN THE NUMBER ONE RECIEVER OF POL. FUNDS FROM FANNIE AND FREDDIE. HMMM WONDER IF THAT PAID OFF FOR THEM? HMMM

Thanks, Senator Dud
I am very sorry for your loss buddy, but I made sure I didn't go after the quick fix of a ARM, I hardly think Dodd can be blamed for YOUR forecloser. I also believe he should be forthcoming with the documents...but could someone please show me where his morgage rate influenced his stand on the banking industry. I don't believe he has changed his position on the banking industry since his mortgage. He has been consistent through out.

If anyone should apologize, knucklehead, it's Dodd. In this day and age, how can it take so long to produce documents that supposedly will exonerate him ... especially at a time when (ha ha ha) he's supposedly on Obama's short list for VP? As long as he continues not to come clean, Dodd will continue to be found under the heading of RADIOACTIVE, especially at a time when The Pure One - Obama - is droning on about ethics in government.
