Joe- is petty much done in the Democratic party- if the Democrats win only 1 more seat then they have now as a majority- he will probably be stripped of all his committee chairs. He will then join the GOP- but aside from his views on Iraq- he record is too liberal for many in the GOP. Joe's political career in any case is over.

I've always thought it was funny how know-it-all Democrats in this state are so intolerant of anyone who veers from the uber-left line. They should admire Joe Lieberman for being an independent thinker, for doing what he believes is right. What a novel thought for Democrats, those graduates of the Sidney Blumenthal School of Smashmouth Political Correctness. How Lieberman could have run with that environmental hypocrite Al Bore and now be John McCain's wingman has got me scratching my head. Still, I admire the guy for having the courage of his convictions, and so should fellow Democrats. If Lieberman can't be elected now in this hidebound state again, he should wear it as a badge of courage.

Lieberman was back on the air in his more visible and contentious role as John McCain's wingman, strafing Barack Obama for a "flip flop" on Iraq during an appearance on "Fox & Friends." Fnniest thing I ever read. The biggest flip flopper in history talking about someone else! TERM LIMITS!

Oh we cannot have an independent person in office like Snator Lieberman that would make the democrats angry. Oh and another thing the congress and the senate is getting, so much done that is for themselves psersonally. Remember the democrats turned their back on Senator Liberman and of course they lost. Go get them Joe.

Hey Pete, Did you read the terms of compliance. Be polite. And to the moderator. Can we also make inappropriate comments about democrats, or will we just focus on republican bashing even though the article is about Lieberman. God forbid a politician have their own thoughts.

The misnomer "liberal" these people apply to themselves would connote a sense of fairness, open-mindedness, and tolerance. In reality, anything to the right of Mao Tse Tung is utterly intolerable to them. They are in fact principled by hate and narrow-mindedness

A tenuous relationship with Democrats ... not this Democrat ... the relationship was severed when "I stand on my principles" - Joe Lieberman totally and utterly defied all principle for purpose of personal ego to switch parties to Connecticut for Lieberman, a party by which he never joined ... a paper mirage designed to maybe kinda have Joe look like a Democrat ... well you stand next to McCain and criticize Obama ... Joe - it is not a poll --- what you did was wrong. Any to stay as a Democrat and at the same time criticize the Democratic candidate is dead wrong too.

Joe showed his true colors in 2000, when he ran for both VP and the Senate at the same time -- god forbid he not be in power! I voted libertarian for senate that year, because I just could not bring myself to vote for a republican from Waterbury. This time around, Joe's actually representing the people that put him in office -- Republicans. The democrats had already sent him packing when he lost the primary to Ned Lamont. I find it really funny that they voted for a guy they spent years bashing........you get what you vote for.

Go get them Joe. You nailed it. The Democrats of today is a very narrowly defined party. If a Congressman is not an extreme liberal and march lock-step with the dictates of Moveon.org and others,(s)he is 'outed' by the Dailykos, Huffington Post, MediaMatters, et al. as not a true Democrat. There is no place for JFK and Scoop Jackson in today's Democratic Party. The fact of the matter is that with the exception of the war on terror and Iraq, Senator Lieberman votes with the Democrats. That is why this is so silly. But, it should be a message to all voters that the extremists, who control the Democratic Party, are not interested in winning the war on terrorism and by extention protecting all Americans.

Lieberman differs with Democrats on the war against terrorists and on Iraq. For everything else, he is as liberal as they come. Funny how the democrats view Lieberman as a traitor, yet Jim Jeffords and Chuck Hagel are viewed as visionaries. Lieberman won in blue state Connecticut because the majority of it's residents understood that during the 2006 election, Joe was right on terrorism and was right on Iraq. Once again, MoveOn.org has put up another George Soros sock puppet candidate to run. Last time it was Lamont vs Lieberman, and now Obama vs McCain. Far leftist candidates lose. Either way, Senator Lieberman is around until 2012, unless he takes a position in McCain's cabinet. In that case, Republican governor Rell will appoint a Republican to fill his Senate seat. Can't wait to watch the left whine and get all hysterical when that happens.

I hope Joe doesn't run again. He and his wife have become millionaires on the public teat. That's what he really wanted and then he wanted to act like a big shot. It's not just the Iraq war for me, it's the lack of intellect. Ethanol is a disgraceful, special interest driven disaster that's driving food costs through the roof with no benefits except for the agri-business. This is just simptonmatic of what's wrong with Joe. Idealogy and special interests driving spending, driving public policy at our collective expense. I wouldn't be surprised to see Joe retire at this election and go on the speaking/lobbyist stint. If the Dems really gain as much control in the Senate as projected, there won't be any need to put up with his nonsense.

He is hard to figure out, maybe it all has to do with Israel..Whoever is more pro-Israel he is for. We as a country don't have the resourses to stay in the middle east forever. So they will have to get along with their neighbors one of these days. He has to be APIAC point man in the Congress, he does their bidding. Like "deepthroat" said during watergate, "follow the money". So I guess we are stuck with him, the republicans in the state will help him get re-elected as long as he wants to run. They don't have anybdody to put up. He is fun to watch and chuckle about. As far as the committee ship has to go if the Dems get a bigger majority he is gone. Funny, I voted for him in 1988 when he ran against Weicker. Now he is a bigger fool than Lowell was then....<G>

The article is correct in stating that the Democrats will put up with Senator Joe to maintain their 1 vote majority in the Senate. So much for the so called principles of the Democratic Party! They care more about their one vote majority and all the perks of being the majority party in the Senate than they care that Leiberman is not a lemming like the rest of the Democrats!

Joe is just the kind of politician the country needs. He doesn't follow party lines blindly and is an actual thinking politician. He proved in CT that the party base is not the far left and his views on the wars have been correct all along. I am a blue dog democrat and will not vote for Obama. He makes too many decisions with no idea what he is doing such as his call to leave Iraq before the surge which he said would not work. How did he come to that conclusion I wonder? No thinking man here. Just do what will get you elected. Go Joe!
