Michael Phillips' reviews say more about him than the movie he's supposed to be reviewing. They're ponderous and not at all accessible like Gene Siskel's used to be. Even Roger Ebert represents the average moviegoer better. No one cares, Michael, what your "dream of a rambling old Connecticut manse, with a big green lawn and a swirl of hidden tensions" is. Please tell what happens in the story more and why or why not it's good and less about your favorite Jonathan Demme films, what roles you thought made Michelle Pfeiffer's long career, or what you thought of Christine Lahti's scenes in a movie 95% of your readers have never seen and probably never will.

"Something Wild" was a big Demme hit that introduced Ray Liotta to an audience that would become enamored with him through his roles in "Field of Dreams" and "Goodfellas."

Here here, nookin. Or, apparently, all you need to be is an emotionally damaged alcoholic according to this, no doubt, fine piece of cinema.

Tell me about it. His movie reviews read like a Hemingway or Tolstoy novel, but without the structure. Stop trying to make them works of art Michael! Make them practical. |

Crap film, one of Demme's worst.
