'Sex and the City' review: Better than ever

Who cares? It's just another asinine fairytale wedding moving for marriage obsessed Trixies.

The Fantasy part of SATC is this-
as one of the 'bumpers' to the TV shows says- "Stay tuned for more Martinis, Manolos and Men"- Family? They have the rarest dealings with family, if ever. Job? Miranda on the phone in her office for 5 seconds. Charlotte walks down a Gallery aisle. Carrie types a Question into her notebook. THe viewers get FAMILY & JOB all DAY... THeir fantasy is a life of the Best Clothes, The most Attractive Men in the Coolest settings; the Best Shoes, and a great drink, laughing with friends. TOTAL FANTASY- no WONDER its' a HIT! Women in New York rarely live like that...but the people in Tulsa, Jacksonville, Little Rock, Iowa City...THIS is the escape they need and want! |

Can someone explain why S.J. Parker is considered a sex symbol? I find her unappealing and not at all physicaly attractive.

I always found the show appealing in the sense that it reminds you that even gorgeous women who have unimaginably expensive outfits, lavish apartments and dream jobs while spending time with unrealistically fashionable and fascinating people in restaurants with inobtainable reservations STILL have insecurities, addictions, mental issues, relationship problems, zits, farts, bad dates, illnesses, fertility problems and all the general stuff that comes along with being a human. Not to mention struggling on whether or not to indulge in an extra cocktail, cigarette or piece of cake.

It's fantasy folks! Enjoy it for what it is - not what you think it should be! Can't wait to see it - even if it means going without my husband and putting an ad on Craig's list for a "movie buddy."

okay i guess no one ever goes to the movies or watches tv...unless it's "reality"? please, even "reality-tv" is far from reality. it's called entertainment for a reason.
i'm a huge fan and can't wait for the film. and as for the "wedding movie" comment....you have OBVIOUSLY never watched sex and the city. it's going to be far far FAR from a wedding movie. that's kind of the point. |

Charlotte just now becomes a mother? I guess that kid she adopted four years ago doesn't count?
It's hilarious to hear all the people carping about what an unrealistic fantasy SatC is. Funny, I didn't hear anybody lodging the same complaint against "Iron Man"! |

I hope people actually READ my post!
I said this is the fantasy the fans need and want! They get FAMILY & JOB all DAY! THat's why it's a HIT! ps- I've seen every one. Many Times. Reruns in Chicago are on at the right time. People seem to go on the blog-o-sphere with the idea of getting in a fight... |

this review isn't really a review. thanks. going to rottentomatoes now (even though your opinion is included there, sigh).

There's been movies based on t.v. show before it even existed. Hollywood...should wake up and produce something catchy and originaly in all genres of film.

To search the net about sex and the city or about anything else go to www.treehoo.com the web that plants trees for most if its profit, to save the environment of our planet. It´s so easy to fight global warming and climate change for free! Can any other webportal beat that?

Who cares about this movie.. Its all about Iron Man, Inndi Joens, and of course batman. Two hours of a tv show that has been hased to death. What is the big deal. Its nothing new, or original. just a chick flick
|

As an American man, I can honestly say that I owe my wedding and upcoming anniversary to these women. If they hadn't exposed the ridiculous expectations and incredible shallowness of American women to me, I would have never met my wonderful foreign wife and been so incredibly happy.

A chick flick where shoes are close to, if not the, most important thing in life.
Small wonder women still struggle to find their voice in male dominated business environments. |

all the hype for this trash show that you can see on tv anywhere

Hello- I'm a Brit who saw the movie yesterday (only just, it had sold out in Nottingham and Mansfield so I had to book in advance and see it in Leicester!) and it is without doubt worth the wait! It is truely excellent!
Die hard SATC fans will love it- it totally exceeded my expectations- so witty and intellegent and the clothes! My word! It is really great that the packed cinema of teens and twenty somethings were all lusting over the lives and styles of 40+ women. In this age of youth-obsessed TV and smug teen stars, its amazing to see 4 hot 40-somethings who rock so hard. Really, really, really bloody good. |

THANK YOU!
Your review addresses the incredible amount of sexism that has emerged from the release of this film- including from at least one of your colleagues at the Tribune ; ) "Every summer brings an influx of big-budget action movies, none of them categorized by gender, and we all traipse off to the theater and expect to be entertained. Period. Women don't rend their clothes and weep about the coming apocalypse every time a new Bruce Willis film is released." |

#22, you enjoy playing spoiler? I know, I could have stopped reading!

|
As Stewie Griffin would say - This is the movie about the 3 ladies & their grandmother, correct?
