I saw it, and actually more surprising than the plot twist itself, was the underlying metaphor...what statement was the screenwriter trying to make about interracial relationships? Did anyone else get that?

Hey, don't talk about Fight Club! Anyway, Hancock's "twist" wasn't as well thought out as the one in The Village. Yeah...I know!
What's the difference between "gimmick" and "twist"? How you feel afterrwards.

Did anyone else get that? I had assumed that's why he was beaten 80 years prior because I'm fairly sure no black man and white woman were walking down the street holding hands in loving embrace. Though I am slightly confused as to how they could even see a movie "together" given the theater was probably whites-only or had a segregated section in the balcony for blacks. The other time points they mentioned it could have went either way. Someone argued they were obviously supernatural but really as long as they were together they were normal so the interracial thing is the only one that sticks out.

How you feel afterrwards. The village did have me going what the hell. Which is why I was totally disappointed in "The Happenings" lack of a twist. As the movie progressed on, I just knew there was a twist coming and was totally willing to sit through the dragging for what M. Night Shamylan had up his sleeve. So no guess as to how I felt afterwards. However, I actually went into Hancock open minded without my usual "I already know the entire plot and twist" 10 minutes into it frame of mind. I was abnormally relaxed for me so when the "twist" came I was slightly surprised and realized I should have seen it coming. But still, it was nice to be surprised. I actually appreciated the premise of supernatural powers NOT being the result of a meteorite or radioactivity.

Why must they shove this interracial crap down people's throats? After a great first half, the movie completely died when Theron's character revealed that she had superpowers as well. This provided a lame backdrop story that was just used as an excuse to put a black man and a white woman together(GAG!) Does Hancock not find black women attractive? Apparently not. It just reinforces the sterotype that once a black man makes it big only a white women is pretty and sexy enough for him. Why couldn't they have made his superhero counterpart a black woman as well? Would this not have made more sense? I guess a black woman just wouldn't carry the same amount of sex appeal, or so they would lead you to believe.
