If you ask Heston himself, he liked the role of the aging cowboy in "Will Penny" more than any of them. I saw it, and I don't get it, but that is what he said.
My favorite Heston role was the good-bad guy he played in "The Big Country". He stole the movie from Gregory Peck, and almost had it stolen from him by Chuck Connors. The most memorable Heston line? Has to be "get your stinking paws off me, you damned dirty ape" I will never forgive Michael Moore for the assassination job he did on Heston in "Bowling for Columbine". |

Acting is entertainment and no more than that. Charlton Heston and Jerry Lewis are practically famous professional actors that have received different plays in movies. Still, they are people who knows how to fake at the point to make you laugh, cry, get emotional, etc.
Lets use a funny situation in the movie Planet of the Apes. The astronaut Taylor (Charlton Heston) saw the clock of the ship indicating that they have been traveling some thousands of years. Take note of what he saw. Later on, the ship sunk in a lake and they -three astronauts- reeached the land. Walking to the unknown Taylor said to the others that Relativity was a fact. One of the others astronauts asked him why he said that, and Taylor responded that he saw the clock of the space ship and that he saw that they traveled for thousands of years but their bodies have aged only a few years...due to the speed of the ship. Ha, ha, ha...what a stupid argument, according to the hypothesis called Relativity, the clock would also slow...No doubt that the clock suffered a malfunction..hiar, hiar, hiar...(I think that the character Taylor should have been played better by Jerry Lewis, I can bet that using the same words in the movie, the viewers should be laughing for long minutes... Besides, it is a fact that time doesn't exist physically, so, this movie is indeed a fiction movie at the level of Pinochio, this is to say, a fantasy which never ever will come true. Charlton Heston was a great actor, no doubt about it, and his legacy of such will perdure as long as somebody -maybe a family member- pays to the media to keep his remembrance alive a little longer. |

The comment made by the person from Melbourne, Australia, should be deleted. Heston's death brought forth a multitude of mindless individuals gushing profanities and disgusting remarks on the internet. All because they take issue with Mr. Heston's politics.
