Charles Durning

Have been watching Charles Durning as Fr Hubley on the "Raymond" re-runs. I often remarked to my wife that Mr Durning was considerably more than and actor trying to act like a Priest. When I heard his delivery last weekend, and followed up with some bio research, all my doubts were confirmed. He's the genuine article.

Hi, by any chance did you find an address for this wonderful man?

I got to know this fine man and excellent actor some years before he made it big on the stage in New York. Charles himself is from Buffalo and an old friend of mine, Jack Roche (father of the Roche Sisters, a singing group) helped Charley during his lean years when he was supporting himself and his family by bit parts in acting or recording, and by teaching dancing at an Arthur Murray studio.
He was thin then (1955-58) but always very eager to succed in show business. How well he succeeded is evidenced by his excellent work on Broadway and in Hollywood. He is still perfect in his role as a priest on Everybody Loves Raymond.
