I love the books and the movies are good too. Mr. Lewis was a very smart fellow.

I loved the original BBC series. I didn't really care for the recent movie though, I thought Golden Compass was better as a similar movie. I'm kind of wary of fantasy movies since so many of them suck. The LOTR or Harry Potter movies didn't do much for me, for instance. But I don't know, I guess I'll wait for the reviews to come in. It is the season for movie going.

I watched Transformers on DVD the other day and liked it quite a bit--if thats counts as a fantasy movie. So I guess for me it comes down to the quality of the movie as opposed to the content.

Oh goody, another way for christians to spread thier bigotry and hatred. C.S. lewis abused his children, tried to run innocent people over, he punched a photographer in the face.

way to show that christian love. Narnia is a poor imitation of a fantasty movie, Narnia doesnt hold a candle to Harry Potter.

this is what a christian says about cs lewis

C. S. Lewis's life is well publicized. Critics easily find material to cast doubt on his profession of faith. He drank alchohol in moderation and he smoked. He married a woman who was divorced. In his early life, some people point to his relationship with Mrs. Moore as an adulterous relationship and claim that he is a fornicator.

Reluctantly, I will briefly addressed these issues of lifestyle. Drinking in moderation and smoking are not sin. Drinking in moderation is not being a drunkard and smoking is stupid, but it is not specified as a sin. I do not have an opinion about his relationship with Mrs. Moore. I do not know if it was sexual or not: Lewis never said. In most ways, it does not matter. There is no indication that the relationship was sexual after he became a professing Christian and much evidence that he did not. Lewis was a strict proponent of celibacy outside of marriage (Bremer, 1998). Lewis was close to 33 years old when he became a professing Christian and Mrs. Moore was 59 years old. Lewis. Mrs. Moore had health problems. Even if it was sexual at one time, it would have been unlikely that it was sexual for many years prior to his conversion due to the age and health considerations.

The other major argument against Lewis being a Christian is that he married a divorced woman. God hates divorce and divorce is sin. However, Lewis married a divorced woman, he did not divorce a woman. Joy, Lewis's wife, was divorced by an abusive and promiscuous husband. Although William Gresham, Joy's first husband, claimed to be a Christian, it is doubtful he was one. Christianity was just one of many religions he tried.(Sayers, 1988). I Corinthians 15 is clear about believers divorcing their spouses. The bible teaches divorcing a spouse is wrong. However, I Cor. 7:15 indicates that the believing spouse must let the unbelieving spouse leave if the unbelieving spouse chooses to leave. Nothing is said about second marriage for the believer whose unbelieving spouse left. I may not agree with all the choices that Lewis made, but to call him a fornicator and not worthy of the kingdom of God seems to me a difficult case to make. Lewis married a Christian woman whose unbelieving spouse left her.

Okay now I know why Kerdy made his comment. You see Jade, what you have pointed out is the perfect illustration of the intolerance that religion teaches, and the freedom to expressive oneself that humanism engenders. It doesn't bother me in the least that C.S. Lewis is the author of this series. I'm all for teaching the idea of sacrificing for others and standing by your word.

I was wondering how long it would take and still someone else had to point it out.

Well, yeah. Sacrificing yourself for others and standing by your word is great. And it's a good movie, too.

Yes I'm sorry, but I don't think like you. Religionists always focus on the bad things in this world because they see the world through the doom and gloom of the Bible and other holy books. I believe that we can make this world a better place. I don't always assume the worst in people, while you apparently do.

The reason I liked Golden Compass more then the first Narnia, is because it's a better movie. Remember, humanists like me aren't the ones boycotting movies because we don't believe the same as the author behind the story. We don't approach everything ready to condemn it.

Once again you fail to understand that not everyone thinks and believes the same as you. I don't wonder why your ilk condemns something without even seeing it, I know why. But you have transposed your own reactionary tendencies onto me; keep them to yourself please.
