Dying young -- good career move or not?

Full story: The Indianapolis Star

When someone calls the store I work in and asks what kind of vinyl we're looking for, we first say mostly rock 'n' roll records, but specifically we are always buying LPs from the Allman Brothers, the Beatles , ...

Jim Morrison's music was fueled by drugs and alcohol - his was always a one-way ticket to an early grave. Without the "fuel," he probably would have been an accountant or something. ;)

(Ray Davies came close to oblivion in the early 1970s, but pulled back from the brink just in time.)

The only thing I don't like about this article is the title. How can dying young be a good career move? We don't choose when we die.
I liked the article well enough, though to send it to my Psychology Instructor. I thought she might find it interesting.

I agree. The music they made is some of the best I've ever heard and certainly head and shoulders above much of what's being written today. I wish almost every day that Duane Allman was still with us, and Hendrix and Lennon....saw Eric Clapton last night in Raleigh, and he played selections from the Derek and the Dominos days, with Derek Trucks on slide. Trucks was excellent, but what would I have given to see Duane play with Clapton! Nice connections though, as Trucks is nephew of Butch Trucks,(still) drummer with Allman Bros. I've seen Knopfler twice recently (with Emmylou and solo) also saw Emmylou solo - they are making the most wonderful music now! What would the musical landscape look like if the others were still around? One can only imagine.

Read Danny Sugerman's Book 'Appetite For Destruction', it is a fascinating insight into rock n' roll and dying young.

Buddy Holly set the standard for Rock n Roll. Rave On Buddy.......
Buddy was the greatest when we were all attending Turner Falls High
in Southern Oklahoma during the late '50s.....Heck, we made him an
honorary Coyote.....In Heaven, Buddy is still Raving, and after all of these years, we are still Craving for his music. Long live Buddy Holly.

Daily Horoscope for February 12

Sagittarius

The day may start out on a high note, but sometime this afternoon you may be feeling uneasy. Not to worry, it's just the beginning of your lunar low cycle, which may drain your energy. This is just Nature's way of telling you to slow down and recharge your spiritual batteries. You may want to schedule time for a long bubble bath or a massage from your partner this evening.
