Nope, I'm not an "american" anyway. I'm a U.S. citizen, who can prove their U.S. citizenship. Plus, I hold a U.S. passport and a document proving my Honorable Discharge on a DD 214 from the U.S. Navy. You people and the Canadians, the Mexicans and the Peruvians, can all enjoy your status as "americans", I'm going to enjoy my status as a U.S. citizen.

Shouldn't you write: I'm a U.S. citizen and can prove my U.S. citizenship. Be that as it may, the greatest figures in the history of this country
referred to themselves as "Americans." I suppose you are an even greater patriot, than say, Lincoln.

"Americans" is good slang word for Frenchmen to use, I suppose. But this is what Amendment XIV of the U.S. Constitution, has to say about it in plain English;

Section 1.

All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside.

But, like I said, if you want to have your "American" brother the Mexican national for a neighbor, that's your problem. Soon enough, progressive Demcorats like yourself will get the sovreignty of the several states abolished in favor of an "American Union", similar to those of the African and European Unions. Then we can all be happy "Americans".
