If both Charlie and Denise are at a point where they can be friends and focus on their children, then thats a good thing. I am not a huge fan of Denise, but I like how she is focusing on the well being of her daughters, and she feels that it's important that they have a good relationship with their father.

They've been through alot together and if they are mature enough to recognize they're better off as friends then go with it. My understanding is that Richie has remained on friendly terms with Cher for years. Better to have a friend for a long time than date for a short time and then cut all ties because the relationship was a bad idea. I think at this point he and Denise know they will always be there for each other no matter what their relationship status is.
