Jon may be a great Dad, but I wouldn't lump Richie into that category who drives around drunk with his young daughter and her friend in a car, gets arrested and almost got charged with child endangement. I still would like to know why he didn't get charged with child endangement. Nice to have money and get away with things that normal people wouldn't.

I certainly don't condone Richie's actions or what he did, but I suppose you have never made a mistake that you regret? He made a mistake but that doesn't mean he's not devoted and a good father to his daughter.

Being a fan of Richie I have struggled with this a bit. For my own reasons I find drink driving abhorent and have seen how it can ruin lives. I don't think Richie is a bad Dad though. I truely believe he made a big mistake and regrets it. We've all made mistakes. As to why not charged, I read that a plea bargain was made shortly after he was charged?? I could have that wrong.

Sorry but having children in your car when you are intoxicated is inexcusable. If he had gotten into an accident and she was killed or maimed, would he still be a great father? Good parents don't put their children and other people's children in danger and get behind the vehicle drunk. He lost my respect as a parent after that one.

Susan, what Richie did is unexcusable,- no question. But please don't forget: Richie is kind of addicted (or at least at risk to become an addict) and I doubt that he really had 100% control over the stuff he did that time.

It might sound strange for some here, bit I think that he maybe needed something like THAT, to get a grip on his life. He now knows, that he has to have it under control right now. Not only that he might have ot go to jail if he relapses, he also is in danger to loose child costudy on his daughter. And i really guess, Ava the most important in his life!

I'm so sure that Richie regrets by heart what happened last March (?), and that he'll be sorry for the rest of his life, that Ava had witnessed all that....

I don't excuse addicts for endangering their children, and celebrity addicts are no different. I feel for this child, because her mother also has addiction/mental problems going on right now, so she doesn't have one stable parent. I hope one of them gets their act together for the sake of their daughter.
