Who's more approachable?

Yea you know Minxy Jenn has an "arranged" time with Jon that she was nice enough to share and he was great with her and it was a wonderful experience for her while my friend just had a few minutes over 3 times with him and she said he's moody...so she's right the truth lies somewhere there in the middle.

I'm guessing the person that knows Jon best is Dot and she's not talking! Jon has said she does put him in his place all the time and I always laughed at those comments of his.

I really enjoyed reading Jenn's comments about her time with him.

Yes, my meeting with Jon was "arranged", but what I tried to convey was how far above and beyond he went to make us all comfortable, honoring request after request that was thrown upon him, when there are smaller, "lesser" stars who would (and have) balked at the idea of "lowering themselves" to their fans level. How many people would stop signing an acoustic guitar to play a old song for a fan? He just completely stopped what he was doing and started strumming the song my mom requested, which was "Never say goodbye". He laughed and said that he wasn't sure that he remembered it and then he took a minute to figure it out and played it, in it's entirety, for my mom, simply because she asked him to. He looked rather bored with the DJs pat questions. I admit that, but he has had the same questions asked over and over and over again. When I stood up and started asking REAL questions, he perked up, so much so that the DJ turned the show over to me! LOL! I was getting more out of him that Paul Christie could ever have hoped to. Jon appreciated the fact that I had "done my homework", so to speak. I asked him about upcoming projects, movies, the new record, etc. Would my impression of him been that of "moody Jon" if he hadn't warmed up? Probably... but, my point is and always has been that we don't know what is going on in that pretty little head of his... To judge him as "moody", when we all have a bad day every now and then, strikes my sense of injustice. Can he be a jerk? Sure he can, he's a GUY!(LOL! My own hubby turns into a grouch whenever he's hungry or tired...he admits it!) Do I love him anyway? I do, warts and all! Are other members of the band more "approachable"? Probably... but they collectively get less attention that Jon alone does. That much attention would turn me into a bear too! To convict him of being a "jerk" when he does wonderful things for fan after fan is unfair. To say that somehow we, the fans, are "entitled" because he knew what fame was going to be like before he signed on to be a rock star is glib and uninformed. NOBODY can know how hot the spotlight of fame will shine, unless they have some sort of superhuman powers to see into the future that I am unaware of. Jon has said, time after time, Southside Johnny was the biggest star he could imagine and that's how famous he wanted to be. Southside Johnny still roams around New Jersey unbothered...he does his own grocery shopping, picks up his own dry cleaning, and I promise that a pack of photographers aren't capturing THAT on film!!! LOL! Jon couldn't possibly have known that the media and photographers would become the circus that it is today. To say that he "owes" us simply because he is famous is flat out WRONG.

So, there ya go!(Geez, I am long winded...sorry about that! Can you tell I am passionate about the situation?!? Once a fiery Italian girl, ALWAYS a fiery Italian girl! LOL)

Tico seems like a very nice guy..I find him to be quite cultured from all I've ever read of him or heard him say. I bet he's really an interesting person to sit down and visit with.

Okay...confession time here...I actually was a Tico girl before I became a Jon girl...that nanosecond in the You give Love a Bad Name video when he tosses one drumstick up and a bunch crash down on him, I remember laughing hysterically and thinking, "Wow! Actually, I had a dream a while ago that the boys and me were sitting in a booth at the local burger king! Jon and me were sitting very close..very very close...Let me just say that those burger king booths are good for other things besides sitting on and they have never been the same to me since!

My cousin met the band many years ago when she was living in America. They were doing some sort of a shoot and she was in the crowd waiting for them to arrive. They came in some minivans and Dave and Ritchie (no Tico
)and some others she didn't know were in the first one. When they got out everyone cheered and they signed autographs briefly and waved before they went away. She managed to get Daves autograph. In the next van was Jon and others that she also didn't know who they were. Jon got out of the van and she said suddenly everyone surged toward him and she said you couldn't even see the top of his head. The respect the crowd treated the other band members with was gone and Jon was just moved through to safety. I don't think he is the most approachable of the group but I don't theink he is that bad either. I've read many stories of meetings with Jon both public and offchance and he seems decent enough.

Well,I've just watched the video of Jon being 'rude'.
Looks to me like a rabbit caught in the spotlight,He doesn't appear to make any eye contact as he walks out and almost uses Richie as a shield, something Richie looks like hes used to doing.I think Jon has to fight his natural personality constantly (that of being quite a shy person) and some days it just gets the better of him .He actually looks like hes well aware that hes being rude but can't help himself.

Thats exactly what I thought. Thats not Jon being rude. Thats Jon just being him. When he is not in the mood for too much, he just puts a shield and walks, walks, walks...

Honestly, I think it's just a style difference. Richie is more extroverted and Jon is more introverted. Neither one is right, wrong, better or worse. I can tell you that I have worked out with Jon in the past and he is a sweetheart. When he is shown respect for his privacy and personal space, he will actually go out of his way to say Hello and ask How you're doing.

Your judging one video. Maybe he and Richie had an agreement before they walked out the door. Maybe Richie said something like "Hey I'll take this one, you go to the car" After awhile, it's emotionally exhausting to have fans or press always wanting more of you. Yes, it's the "gig" he signed on for but he is human and believe it or not the man has bad days once in awhile... just like you, just like me. It's that simple.
