Bon Jovi fans the world over are waiting with baited breath for the blue-eyed wonder of New Jersey to finish his charitable activities and his family vacations like his recent sojourn to St. Bartz with the Bongiovi kit-and-caboodle and get back in the studio and work on any kind of record to fill the terminal void of the band being off the road.
Never one to wait around patiently, it appears reliable ax-man Richie Sambora has beaten blue-eyes to the punch.
According to published reports, fans won’t need to wait too long to find out where ‘Mr. Bluesman’ is playing these days, because the brown-eyed pup with the ‘What who me?” smile is back in the studio laying down tracks for this third solo record.

Lending credence to the phrase ‘Idle time is the Devil’s time’, the recently rehabbed and reconciled rocker has been prolific, playing solo gigs for charity like the south Florida 13th Annual Biker’s Bash in Hollywood, Florida followed up with a show at the Seminole Indian Hard Rock Casino in mid-December.
Interviewed at the time by WSVN-7’s ‘Shireen On The Scene’, Sambora dropped a hint that was recently confirmed by Gibson.com when asked what he had been doing since the band came off their 18-month world tour.
“John and I are recording at the moment. I’m also recording a solo album at the moment , and writing so I’m in this creative process. I’ve written 35 songs in the last two-and-a-half months…or something like that”.
Thirty-five songs is enough to make Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora fans bust out the heart-and-dagger lobster bibs to catch all the lascivious drool sure to drop at the thought of all that music and all those future tour dates!
Gibson.com reported Sambora is working with Luke Ebbin, who worked on the Bon Jovi CD’s Crush and Bounce. No slouch is Mr. Ebbin, having not only worked with Bon Jovi, but also Melissa Etheridge, Plain White T’s, the All-American Rejects, and Will I Am, to name just a few.
Ebbin told Broadcast Newsroom ,“Richie came off the Bon Jovi tour energized and we got together to write a couple of songs. The results were very good, so we kept writing more and decided to go in and record them.
“The recordings came out great, so Richie decided why not make this a solo record? There are eight songs in the can now, including a co-write with Bernie Taupin...”
Undoubtedly, fans the world over will have many a sleepless night wondering whether new tunes will feature a mellowing of the defiant wisdom of a “Ballad of Youth” from Sambora’s first solo foray in 1991 'Stranger In This Town'; or be more closely aligned with all he has lived and learned since penning “Undiscovered Soul’ in 1998.
In the 14 years since his last solo record, Sambora has lived, loved, lost, and found it all again, which can only mean an even richer treasure trove of material awaits.
