People in Oak Park deal with horrendous taxation, parking nightmares, a declining highschool, CRIME, etc. The best area of O.P.(west of Oak Park Ave. and north of the IKE) is very expensive. Since the village does not allow for-sale signs, only those who pay attention know that the entire village is up for sale as people flee Crook County gummint.

I love O.P. My family has been there since WWII. But O.P. has a hostile business environment (many business have already fled to nearby Forest Park) and a local government with a spend, spend, spend mentality.

Nice puff piece though.

Hey dooper... get some facts straight.
The HS is not in decline, the crime is not as bad as you think (forest park is worse). The entire village up for sale? That is ignorant!
You are correct about hostility to business and bad government. The bad government is the same for most towns. Where does the hate come from? Keep you bile to yourself! By the by, what glorious town do you grace?

I'd recommend anyone looking at Oak Park to take a tour south of the Ike. I hadn't even considered it until our agent showed us a lovely bungalow back in 1999. We've been part of an active, friendly neighborhood ever since. There's definitely more to OP than the $1M+ north side.
