Horse Abuse in Puerto Rico

Dear Mrs. Derek,
What Mrs. Lourdes Weisgerber,RN,BSN has written about the deplorable conditions that many horses suffer here in Puerto Rico is the absolute truth. Our group would like to run a survey of exactly how many horses are on this island and investigate the percent which are abandoned and abused. So few are living in the correct and desirable conditions necessary for them to thrive.
We plead with you that, you, as an animal lover make a trip to Puerto Rico to see this for yourself. I am sure that many of us are willing to take the time to show you our island's animals.
There are a couple of humane orgs in Puerto Rico which are specializing in the rescue of horses due to the large number found in horrific and inhumane situations.
Our group does horse rescues on an almost daily basis and we are in dire need of funding, horse trailers, medical equipment, etc....... For a society that fosters so many intelligent, creative and educated people, it is an embarrassment to show you the conditions in which our animals are found daily.

Please reply to me fast so I can write congess reps in time for Thursday's vote.
My reps are Demos and will probably be voting to save the horses. I need to
reach the ones who don't care about horses. I don't want to preach to the
choir.

I am aware of horse abuse in Puerto Rico.I would like to know who to contact so I can help in this situation.Horses are not the only ones in bad conditions here in Puerto Rico but also other animals like dogs and cats.if there is anything I can do to help I would like to know.
