while youve certainly scheduled some interesting acts for the brighton jazz and bluesfest, organizers certainly missed the boat when it comes to WHAT makes it an event that Brighton folks really want...behind scene politics assured that the current bands were chosen!
Case in point... a VERY popular group plays in Brighton regularly at the Brighton Bar & Grille called Wixom SLim & the Wyze Gyze... they werent even considered by the event organizers... myself and many other regulars would have appreciated seeing such a group that contributes to Brightons culture year round.... but , again, business politics are what they are... tell the organizers -Good luck w your festival! Were going elsewhere !

I MYSELF, LOVE BLUES AND JAZZ, AND LOOKING FORWARD
TO LISTEN TO SOME GOOD MUSIC. I WAS UNAWARE OF THE
BRIGTON BAR&GRILLE HAVING BLUES IN THEIR ESTABLISHMENT. I WILL CERTAINLY CHECK IT OUT SOMETIME. I WILL REMEMBER TO LOOK FOR WIXOM SLIM &
THE WYZE GYZE.
I DO ATTEND THE ALPENA BLUES FEST EVERY YEAR, WHICH
IS A THREE DAY EVENT, THEY HAVE SOME GREAT ENTERTAINMEMT.
Great choice of bands

I feel that if I want to see blues bands that play Brighton all the time, I'll go see them at the venues they play all the time.....in Brighton.
I think the line up was to INTRODUCE something new to Brighton that they have not had the opportunity to enjoy in their backyard on a regular basis.
It's obvious to everyone who attended the packed festival that something new and different was just what the city ordered. To BRING to Brighton folks that have not made Brighton a destination stop before. From who we met and partied with at the event, Westland, Macomb, East Pointe, Wyandotte and Grosse Pointe residence that made the trip to see the rare line up, will indeed be back to shop and dine in Brighton as it was eye opening for them to see what Brighton had to offer.
Seems like that was the intension of the person responsible for putting that line up in there to begin with. They sure did Brighton proud with all the great musicians that loved playing Brighton for the first time. Two national acts, one from Houston, one from Georgia made the long journey to be a part of the festivities. I think the DDA did a fantastic job and we're looking forward to coming again next year.
Great choice of bands

If I wanted to see the same blues bands that play Brighton all the time, I'd come see them when they play their regular local gigs on the regular basis.

Seems like the point of the whole musical line up was to bring something new and different to not only entertain the locals but to draw in folks that already know about the bands from far away. To bring folks to Brighton to open their eyes to what Brighton has going on, the shops, the restuarants, all the goodies that folks had not taken the time or the trip to come check out.
We met folks there from Wyandotte, Grosse Pointe, Garden City, Flint and Jackson who were all first timers to Brighton and came to see the unusual line up, mostly which consisted of bands that they already knew and gave them a opportunity to see them in a festival setting.

Two of the bands came from as far away as Houston and Georgia to play for this audience and truthfully, it was the first time I've seen a musical "party" in Brighton like this in the 27 years we've lived in the area. It's about time we got some real bands that are not regular bar fare.

I hope this event continues and that they bring more of this type of entertainment to us that we normally never get in our neck of the woods.

Great job...just unbelievable..

2007 Brighton Jazz and Blues Festival

Any word on this year's lineup? Also, I didn't make it to last year's event. Where is it being held, exactly?
