Ronnie is the best,hands down.

All must admit,although oz had his time. The Sab's are truly whole when with Ronnie. When I die I'm gonna ask the maker his thought on who is the voice for Sabbath. I'll bet my soul he states it's RONNIE JAMES DIO!!!!!!!!!!

I think that Ozzy will always be the most recognizable voice for Sabbath but remember that we ALL have our favourite albums, singer etc... I don't think that Ronnie does the older Sab stuff as good as Oz, but by the same token, Ozzy can't do Ronnie"s stuff either and remember Tony Martin is an amazing singer in HIS own rightas well. He has put his own mark on the Black Sabbath legacy so let's compare apples to apples, they are all different singers in their own time and style which has made Black Sabbath such an amazing and diverse musical experience that they are not and CAN NOT be matched by ANY other band...has ANY other band gone thru as many personnel changes and still be considered at or near the top of their genre? I think not

Black Sabbath is the greatest metal band of all time. That being said, RJD is NOT the greatest singer of Black Sabbath. Ozzy will forever rule in Sabbathland, but for my money, Ian Gillan is the greatest rock vocalist of all time. Therefore, the greatest Sabbath is with Ian Gillan.

Well, Skull, you do have a point that Ian Gillan is at least ONE of the greatist vocalists in rockdom but he even said HIMSELF that he was the worst vocalist that Sabbath ever had...his voice, look and singing style just didn't fit with Tony and the boys and if you doubt what I just said...take some time and look at an interview with him on Sabbath's video ...it's the "post Ozzy" video history of Black Sabbath up until about "Dehumanizer". As I have written here before they are ALL different and they are ALL great in their own place and time but to say who's the best...hmmmmm...to each his own. Cheers!! bubman

1st.of all Ronnie is a true singer.Ozzy is a squeaky,fat bloke who was lucky to land the gig with Tony in the 1st place. Gillan rocks,but does not count in this mix. Ronnie James Dio is the greatest of all time.

Ok everyone,time to set the record straight.For the genre which Ozzy himself helped to create, he is far and away the best voice for Sabbath.Now don't misunderstand,RJD is a brilliant singer,but for the voice of Sabbath, Ozzy(not the mob)rules.Also,do a bit of research on album sales and concert attendance and you will see the light.And please,please don't try and compare any of RJD's music with the Sabbath of 68-78 starring Ozzy,it's a joke and a complete waste of time.Just listen to all the Sabbath discs and you'll hopefully come to your rock 'n' roll senses.

Also listen to RJD's music from pre 68-78. Electric Elves,Elf,and of corse RAINBOW!!!!!!!!. Ozzy did not help create that genre he was lucky to get a job singing in that genre. Ronnie's music back then will still lay flat a city,and even though early Sabbath kills,its not through ozzy's weak voice.It's from Geezer's lyrics,thundering bass,and of corse Master Tony's playing. DIO RULES.

I am 47 years old,and have seen,and heard the 2 major sides of Sabbath. I'm not speaking of all the other singers,just Ozzy,and Ronnie. In everything I've heard in all the years I've listened to Black Sabbath,I would have to say,that even though in the 70's the Sabb's with Oz rocked. However they really only sound their best with DIO. They are meant to be Ronnie,Tony,Geezer,and Vinny.

Tony Iommi carried the name Black Sabbath on under various lineups because he owned it! fact.
Black Sabbath as a band no longer exist (at the moment)!! fact.

Why cant we love both era's ? I love all Sabbath, except the lame ass Tony Martin stuff - but some people do like it, so I say GREAT !!!

Sabbath is the balls, and there is no better band. Poor old Ozzy does his best, and where would metal be without him ? I love Ronnie too, and Ian was dynamite, so I say love it all.

Geezer & Gloria Butler are the best, I have had a small contact with them, very small. But this I learned about them. They are cool, and nice and humble, just great people the both of them.

They reached out to me, because I did a small favor to them. They didnt have to, but they did. They are the textbook definition of CLASS.
