TGIF wrote: Was an autopsy done??? If so, was there "snacks" in the child's stomach? If so, it would seem as if the sitter is telling the truth. The story is based upon the findings of the autopsy revealing a discrepancy in the babysitters story. The "snacks" or lack thereof, according to Dr. G's findings are probably a part of that.

Ray wrote: <quoted text> Your response makes absolutely no sense. If mothers are calling 911 because of nosebleeds, then they aren't intelligent enough to be mothers. "Why should women care for their kids?" Another dumb comment from you. Because when you decide to have children, you take on that responsibility; not only moms but dads too. Both parents need to take an active role in raising their children. I'm not targeting women. And as far being "stuck in the 50's?" I bet most people would love to be able to relive the 50's or even the 60's and 70's...when there were actually family units, when family came first, when you made some sacrifices for the sake of your kids, when your parents did without so their kids could have a better life. What are we giving our kids today? Don't even get me started on this because you haven't a clue. STOP. The best case I ever saw was a man in his forties call 911 and be transported to a trauma ER via Rescue because of a mosquito bite. That is stupidity. A new mother panicked over a nosebleed is just that. A new mother panicked over a nosebleed. Making a decision to work as a single mother is not easy. The guilt is unbearable. JMHO, but it beats the daylights out of staying home teaching them that collecting welfare and having more children is the answer. Fact...feeding, clothing and sheltering children are all functions we are required to do that require money. Working to get that money is also a fact of life. What moms and/or dads do after work is a different story. Partying, pole dancing, boyfriends, locking babies in trunks ect is not acceptable behavior. The woman who recently drowned her 4 month old infant was a "stay at home" Mom, as was Casey Anthony. Yes, women are different today, they work, but men are different too. The Dad that had five children in the 1950's would work 2 -3 jobs and pick up money where he could so mom could stay home and raise the kids. Wow...there it is again...that awful word...PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY. Stop blaming society for all the world's ills. When a person makes a decision to commit a crime it is there decision and the consequences of the actions are theirs to claim as well.

While I don't condone killing or abusing children, I don't think this woman set out to murder her friend's child. I think the child had a fall and Brumfield, NOT being a medical professional didn't know how to handle the situation. The baby could have passed out and she may have mistook this as being "asleep". As we have seen with the recent death of Natasha Richardson, head injuries may not seem serious at first. Ms. Richardson was laughing and cutting up after she fell down. Dr. Garavalia may be a trained professional, but doctors do not know all and are not Gods. Sometimes when they get so much attention, they seem to think they know it all. Natasha Richardson may have been laughing and cutting up after her fall, but she did not have a major gash on her tongue like the baby had. To me it's difficult to imagine a small child wanting to eat in that condition.

Uhhhh....Why didn't they do an autopsy of the contents of the child's stomach before ruling it a homicide?????? The babysitter's story sounds as if it maybe true. Maybe the pain of the injury progressed as time passed on and the child MAY HAVE eaten snacks, that can easily be PROVEN!!!!!!!!!!

The autopsy revealed this was a homicide. That is the discrepancy that lead to the arrest. Don't you think you should read the article before you post?

A child that dies of head trauma has visible symptoms known to Medical Professionals. Autopsies have conclusive scientific results. That does not need to involve God. An autopsy can determine the force of the blow, the contents of the stomach, if any, and the stage of digestion any consumed food was in when the death took place. It can determine the time of death, and any other underlying medical causes that would have exacerbated the injuries. Feed bananas to a child with a bleeding tongue? An ice pop is more appropriate.

I don't care who you hire, no one is going to be more attentive, more caring and more loving to your child than you! And women...don't give me this cop out excuse that you need to go back to work to pay the bills! YOU need to adjust your lifestyle and do without the extra car payment, the flat screen TV or the extravagant vacations and do what you are expected to do; take care of your own children! I hear this comment too many times from co-workers: "Why should I change my lifestyle just because I have children?" or "I don't want to be stuck at home taking care of kids all day!" or "I'm working just to make enough money to pay for the expensive daycare bills." GET HOME AND TAKE CARE OF YOUR OWN KIDS!! Our society needs to start taking responsibility for rearing, raising, educating, caring and loving OUR OWN CHILDREN...not pawning them off or letting some inexperienced or "professional" company take care of our kids. Go back to doing what our parents did. Mom stays home. Dad works. Dad stays home. Mom works. Dad works two jobs. Whatever. As long as one parent stays home to take care of the kids. Sure, there are exceptions to this rule. Like if you're a single mom.(That's a whole different discussion right there.). My point is; we take for granted the special, intimate part of being parents. We lose out on the best years of their lives because we aren't there to care for them. And we run a very high risk that someone or something is going to happen to our children because we choose to put them in the hands of strangers or have our elderly parents take care of them (another discussion: our parents raising us and then having to "raise" our kids and their grandchildren after they've retired. Don't get me started on this topic!). Lets get back back to how it used to be. Lets start taking our own responsibility and not have to rely on someone to take care of our own children! Most likely, a lot of these situations would stop happening. Our kids would be better off, loved more, care for more and maybe...just maybe, grow up to appreciate life more, respect others more and lead better lives. Hey, it couldn't hurt! I'm all for staying home with my children! Go ahead and make it so moms can stay home. Please pay my bills for me so I can stay home with my kids and not pawn them off to their grandmother!! Make it happen!! Can't can you! Didn't think so, you closed minded fool! If only it were that simple huh?! I don't have luxuries just so you know. Not everyone does. Not everyone can survive with the necessities on one income. The way the economy is people can't afford to be picky with their jobs!! You get what you can get. I'm just fortunate enough that I have my mother and mother in law to watch my children so my husband & I can work and take care of our children!! The next best thing to a parent is a grandparent. So before you past judgement on others, look into your own household, because I am sure you can find something in your household to complain about!

I don't have nice things like some people do, except for my house. That's it. I stay home and take of my kids, but NOW I can't. Guess why? Because it takes MONEY to feed them. It takes MONEY to put gas in the car to get them to school. It takes MONEY to pay for doctor bills because we can't get insurance on our own. If you would be so kind, please send me a check for about $1 million so that I don't HAVE to go back to work! Since you think we all should just stay home and raise our kids, maybe you should pay for it.

There will always be those from a different generation that will always state that children are no good being left at daycare/babysitter. Well welcome to a new world people. i would LOVE to stay home with my two children, however, I have no choice in the matter. Two incomes are needed in this day and age, I'm very glad that all of you that stay home with your kids are able to do that, but please don't think your children are better or smarter than mine, because they aren't. I did research and they are at the best in home babysitter I have ever had the privilege of meeting, and now we are family with them. I have a great job and make good money but I still have no choice as to work for a living.

why was it that years ago it was okay to leave your kids with a sitter? Now all you read about is tragic stories about kids being killed by their mother, father, sitter? What the hell has the world come to? http://www.youtube.com/watch...
