I do give Bill Cosby credit for speaking out on this issue whereas many other Black celebrities will not touch this particular topic with a ten-foot pole. I know why, just look at the hell Bill Cosby is catching for airing our dirty laundry that we don't want to talk about in public like it's some secret but the whole world knows.
Crime, teen pregnancy (although those numbers are on the decline) and kids dropping out of school are major problems in the Black community and it is those of us that are parents that have failed to do their jobs that these issues exist. If you are a parent and you don’t know that the only chance we’ve got at making it in this world is through Education then you need to give your children up for adoption. I know kids from good homes and good parent(s) that are Educated also fall victim to these ills but the majority of the behavior going on with our kids are due to poor parenting skills from the onset of the child life. It seems like this problem is growing more and more out of control and in my opinion I don’t think this trend is reversible. Sure it is reversible if one wants to change his/her way of life but the majority of those stuck in these situations are not trying to get out of the situation they are in. I mentor at risk youth and I try to help and lead down a path to success as many kids as I can but I can only do so much because so many at so young an age have so many grown up worries it just breaks my heart. I will continue to do what and as much as I can and I would like to encourage all Brothers and Sisters that are in a position to maybe be a mentor or Big Brother / Big Sister to some of our youth to show them that there is more to life that the hood in which they live. They need to know you can be in the hood today but if you do the right things and keep your nose clean your tomorrow will be much brighter. |

I challenge you to read "The Angry Black Man's Guide to Success" by George Farrell. This book will give you the backgound to understand why our children are giving up. It will also show you how to motivate and direct the natural abilities of our youth. There is even a roadmap that shows how to turn the hood around and hold politician accountable for creating blight conditions. CBC, please continue your good work.

But what happens when we start making too much progress? I ask because I happened to run across this clip on youtube. If you can, please watch all the clips. It's lengthy, but it's worth it. |

What you say might be true but... that does not excuse the delinquent behavior of blacks. The man is right on alot of things and that is all that matters. |

Regardless of he is trying to conjour up a pity party, he is on of few that are actually looking at us and saying that we need to change the way we do things. Not one person has lived a straight and narrow life. SO the point of him being in the Playboy mansion is irrelevant. His grandkids? Well he would just have to fight that battle himself with his grandkids when that comes along. How often do you hear of Oprah, Jordan, your favorite rap star, Sharpton or any black individual thats well financially set talk about social issues in the our black communities? Murder, education(lack of), poverty and such? You dont until there is an up roar of some sort. I applaud Bill for bring forth light to this problem. |

Don't lose your optimism. There are many many many people in these communities doing the hard work that many of us don't see.
If more people see these herculian efforts more often, maybe they would be inspired and motivated to contribute to those efforts. |

Thanks DC Tom Brown:
This is King George Farrell, author of what many are referring to as the Black Manifesto and I appreciate your plug of the book "The Angry Black Man's Guide to Success" I have also launched a blog at www.abmgts.blogspot.com to discuss solutions and support action to improve conditions in underserved communities. As a real estate developer, I can tell you that ghettos are planned just like higher income communities. We can build great and prosperous communitie if we believe we can. Thats what I am about |

Where did you hear that? |

He/She didn't. It doesn't serve "their" purpose to promote or give kudos to anybody Black that speaks the truth. The liberal media largely ignored Tiger Woods speech at the Obama inauguration, because it read like a "I love America" speech to certain folks. Condolleeza Rice, Colin Powell, forget it, they might as well be red-headed, freckle-faced stereotyped white suburbanites. Sad, but when will Black folks wake up and listen to more than one monotone broken-record voice. |

bill has said nothing when discussing the issues that plague the black community that wasn't absolutely the truth.
black people just can't stand to hear the truth be told about them. the whole thing is that pearents are just simply not taking the time to instill value, morality, good manners, and the importance of an education into their children anymore. ye,i understand that a child will still ultimately do as they wanna do,but if your child has the proper guidance and love that is required while they're coming up in the world, then they will be less likely to fall victim to dropping out of school, teenage parenthood, experimenting with drugs, etc. you have to parent the child, not try to be the friend. i applaud mr.cosby for having the temerity to discuss these issues. someone has to open a dialogue about this because too many people are afraid. those who are offended need to face reality. |

Before I start I want you to know that I am the by-product of all 4 races and there are 16 different nationalities and all three primary mono- theist religions [Jewish, Christian, and Muslim {i.e. Islam}] in my family going back about 300+ years. This is primarily directed at Tyro666. I am also a direct descendent of a group of people that were the 1st slave master killers before they got to America traveling through the Caribbean Islands. Again, before I start let me ask a few questions from a racial point of view and see if you can answer them all correctly without blaming white racism:
1] Who were the 1st slaves in America? 2] Why is it when every other racial group that comes to America makes it within 2 generations or less, and Blacks whom have been here for over 400 years still have a collective graduation rate below 25%? And by the way all of those areas where those figures exist are controlled by Democrats. 3] Have you ever studied any other history other than Black history? 4] Who were the 1st people to enslave Blacks on a large scale?[It wasn't Europeans.] 5] Have you ever heard of the Library of Alexandria and do you know the significance of the loss of that monument to the world? Who sacked that library? It wasn't whites. 6] Blacks have broken records in Entertainment and Sports but for some reason they cannot transfer that success to any other form of economic success. Why is that? 7] Did you know that Black slavery in America actually started in Europe with a swap of indentured servants? Hint: Black slavery didn’t start out as Black Slavery. 8] Did you know that Black people were originally Republicans and not Democrats in America? Do you know what changed that? Hint: Johnson! 9] Which party is older, Democrats or Republicans? 10] Do you know why Nelson Mandela was jailed? It wasn't because he was Black. Although that's what Black historians want you to believe. 11] And why are Blacks more comfortable with the many forms of Socialism more than any other form of government? If you can't answer any of the questions without blaming white racism then you need to do some homework. |
