Why do people wear fur ?

everyone has their opinions on all subjects, and no one is going to ever agree on any subgect.
so i wanted to voice my opinion on fur.why do people wear fur?
the bottom line is we do NOT have to wear fur like in the "caveman days" they had to keep warm and cover their bodies.and they went out a hunted for it. they didnt get it from fur farms.
no matter how you sugar coat it. a fur is a DEAD ANIMAL that has been caged / most times tourtured / skinned alive.... fur is just a STATUS SYMBOL for those who wear it... but no matter how you dress it up,slap a high dollar price tag on it , its still an animal that was killed for purpose of VANITY.... thats so unnesecerry...... but there will alway sbe people that will wear it no matter what... animals no matter what kind, FEEL PAIN as we do.... they scream and react to pain just like we do .... all these celebrities that promote fur (jlo).... do they realy need to make their money that way? people shell out the $$$$$$$$$$ for fur, so the killers that skin these animals (some alive) make the big $$$$$$$$$.they all profit from this... fake furs now a days looks and feels just like the real thing ....... so why would anyone want to wear something that has been put through so much pain ?????? THEY CAN "BLING" IN FAKE JUST AS WELL.......only someone that has a heart and cares at all for animals will understand,
some JUST DO NOT CARE AS LONG AS THEY "THINK" THEY LOOK GOOD.... but when i see someone with fur, i just think how disqusting and do they realy think they are making a bold statement by wearing a DEAD ANIMAL....?

She is buying fur from the money she gets from her fan's that buy tickets to her show, or buying her records.
All of her fan's are supporting animal abuse.
If you love animal i cant see how you can support beyonce.

There are no excuses for wearing fur. I have had numerous conversations with people on here about the use of fur, a lot of people sadly seem to think that animals are inferior creatures.:(

It's not like Beyonce wears fur exclusively. Ive seen here wear fur maybe once.

She has worn fur on many occasions, actually. And it has featured in her fashion line.

The fact that you have to go down to ignorant childish insults is quite disturbing. I'm not an "attention *hore", I'm just someone who - unlike yourself - finds the idea of animals being slaughtered for Beyonces sick, ignorant, selfish, vanity disgusting.

Even if you believe she has only worn fur once, one fur coat uses the skins of several animals.

I am shocked that so many people on here condone the wearing of fur.

1. Anyone who would skin an animal alive is sick! However the Department of fish and wildlife (USA) promotes trapping and hunting of fur bearing animals for population control. Mostly all the pelts are sold at yearly auctions and are shipped to Europe for the garment industries. Oregon for example was built on the fur trade. Mostly beaver.

2. Killing animals is a natural thing to do for meat-eating animals. That includes humans. Skinning animals alive is cruel. Killing animals for food is natural yet should be humane and allow for as much dignity to the animal as possible. I think wearing fur is ok as long as it is a by-product of an animal killed for food. It is no different than leather. Look around your house and see how much leather there is.

3. I am a 3rd generation trapper, and now teaching my grandchildren the same. There may be some cruel people out there but you have to believe me, most hunters are very humane in that we don't like to see animals suffer. The traps used in the fur trade are "offset" meaning they have a gap when they close, they DO NOT shut all the way. The traps come in different sizes to catch the animal you are searching for. A #2 is bobcat or fox size but anything smaller than that and they slip right out. The traps are spring loaded and snap quickly but DO NOT harm. Believe me I have caught my fingers in them on accident hundreds of times and although it smarts a little, I still have 10 fingers. I can make $6000 to $8000 in a season. The season is 2 months only, opens Thanksgiving day and runs through January. We're up to our knees in snow, it's cold and wet and misreable but, its a tradition. The fur trade is down because of all the controversy, most of our fur goes to Europe. Right now I get $35 for bobcat and $14 for fox. Every year for 60 years there have been plenty of bobcat and fox in the wild and for hundreds of years before that. It is a RENEWABLE resource, just like trees as long as you don't abuse it. Trappers and hunters help keep the numbers managable to our society, if they out number themselves they starve or disease. And society makes their habitat smaller and smaller by building...... hope this helps.

Skinning an animal alive would be a very cruel thing to do. I have never heard of anyone skinning a live animal and I can't imagine that it could happen very easily as the animal would simply not allow itself to be skinned alive.....it would be biting and kicking and scratching so that it would be almost impossible for someone to skin it!
However, there is a market for animal furs and many people enjoy wearing fine quality furs. I have trapped animals for over 30 years and have helped to support my family with the money that it makes. I have never been intentionally cruel to an animal and always try to kill them as quickly as possible so that they do not suffer. I am an animal lover too and the killing of the animal is certainly the least enjoyable aspect of this business. Although I have killed hundreds of animals, I have never taken pleasure from doing so....it is simply part of the process.
Many species will become overpopulated if not properly harvested. If it were not for human encroachment on their natural habitat, they could probably be kept in check, naturally. However, because of human destruction of habitat, certain species can find themselves overpopulated, depending upon depredation of human's crops, livestock, livestock feed and garbage for their survival. Also, an overpopulation can result in spread of disease through a population and may even lead to spread of disease to livestock, pets, and even humans. If properly harvested, fur bearing animals can provide a useful product to humans while being controlled so that numbers remain stable and a healthy population can persist.
Many people will argue that the skins of these animals are a luxery and not a neccessity for humans and that we have no real need to kill them for their skins. In part, this is true, but why not take advantage of such a useful and beautiful resource if we can do so in a way that protects animals from disease or outright wasteful killing? If we were not allowed to legally harvest them, they would starve, get sick, and be wastefully killed in order to keep their numbers in check anyway.

I Think real furr is nice and I like it, but It is sad. We wouldn't like it if animals wanted our skin to look cool. Like I said I like real fur but it's still sad.

If I want some 50 cent like fur coat and they still have 'em then I would get them,'cause then it would be a waste to kill the animal. Isn't there fake fur? I don't know. I like real fur. I don't have one though, lol.

I love fur, but then again i think it's wrong to wear it. You can wear it if the animal is dead and you use the rest of the body parts, but killing something and then just taking it's fur is wrong! I'm me so yeah that's my opinion.

"Fur is comfortable" - how ironic, it certainly wasn't comfortable for the poor animal who was skinned alive. Anyway, faux fur looks so much better. Real fur looks tacky and sick, faux is comfortable and fashionable.

Truthfully, as a hunter and trapper, anyone who would even try to skin an animal alive is not only cruel, but an idiot. You risk injury, as is stated, and there is no valid reason to try to skin an animal alive even if you are indifferent to the animal's suffering. Regarding these videos, I really have to question the motives of those who took the videos and are distributing them. Why is it that someone would use their camera to prolong and capture this animal's suffering, rather than putting the camera down and putting the animal out of it's misery. I even question if someone paid some poor chinese peasants to try to skin an animal alive to capture it on tape, to create a sensational video.
The reduction in fur price from all the high-profile anti-fur campaigns has reduced the demand for fur. This means that there are fewer people motivated to trap, and many of these species are seeing out of control populations. We have animals with rabies and distemper, and many are being roadkilled. And if you truly want to see a cruel death, watch a hawk, owl or eagle with a rabbit or cat, and see them tear the live animal limb-from-limb while it is still alive.

Thats really sad. I didn't know people skined animals ALIVE! I could never do that. Do they torture the animals we eat? or do they kill them first? Because I really like hamburgers. But it would make me kinda sad, if they actually felt the pain.

tyesha i am not hatin but u should not buy fur coats and if a person does than they are so selfish and that they dont even care about all the things they did to the poor animals. think of it what if that was you getting skinnd alive would you like that?
