I had to change the channel when he started his acceptance speech, because his remarks sickened me, as did the cheering from the rest of the clueless Hollywood elite.
It seems that to win an Academy Award these days, you have to be either a foreigner, or just plain anti-American. Just look at the Awards for the past couple of years. |

This was one of the more difficult Academy Awards the choose the Best Actor in a Lead Role...
To start, I thought Frank Langella should have won for Frost/Nixon. His performance was, in my view, far more compelling than both Sean Penn and Mickey Rourke... That said, I felt Mickey Rourke's performance was more reaching. Sean Penn's method acting take on Harvey Milk was solid, if not great. I felt this his acting was based on a real life story where the script was basically written for him... Mickey Rourke's performance in my view was more reaching and more realistic. Maybe stories that have a grittier view of that side of life are more compelling to me... All that being said, I have no issue with Sean Penn receiving the Oscar for Best Actor in a Lead Role... |

Amazing someone actually saw the movie.I saw a clip were he kissed his boyfreind, worst hollywood kiss i ever saw. they shouldnt of even bothered. they kissed each other on the corners of the lips. most hollywood kisses show them swallowing each others tongues.And dont try and say they where just being freindly. sean just didnt have it in him, in other clips i saw he was overacting the gay part. I know a few gays and you couldnt tell them from a straight guy.The movie nobody saw and got best actor. ridiculouse. He did better in other movies were he could have won best actor. Sure the gays probably liked the movie because it gave them some recognition but it was not that god of a movie. By the way i was one of the 1.5 million people in the world who saw the movie |

Swen,
You make the same grammatical error many people make: It's "shoudn't HAVE bothered", not "shouldn't OF bothered". What is it with education here in the midwest? I mean, seriously, I was taught that lesson in the second grade and, guess what, I still remember it! |
||||
How long have you been out of 2nd grade.The second grade for me brings memories of Tojo And Hitler.I am what young people call an old fart. i have been out of school a long time and english and grammer were my worst subjects, also spelling as you can probably see.When i write about an important subject i have my daughters children proof read what i write.I do not consider the forum comments important and thank you for the information although it went in one ear and out the other. my english teacher who has probably passed on to high school heaven would not be happy reading my stuff. I am happy to see someone besides my kids got a good education. Have a nice day |

Of the choices for best actor I saw three of the movies. The Wrestler, Milk and Frost vs Nixon. Mickey Rourke in The Wrestler, was by far the best performance, and I would say that even Frank Langella's portrayal of Nixon was much better than Sean Penn's Harvey Milk. I am a fan of Penn's, but in Milk he reminded me more of a slightly retarded person than a homosexual. The Academy has always been bias towards political & homosexual films. And I also believe they are possibly trying to punish Rourke for his years away from Hollywood, and even though he is not black listed anymore, I think they still hold a partial grudge. I am really dissapointed in the dishonesty of the Academy.

I can't agree more!! I saw a retard in Milk, especially when he was giving speeches... the acting was sub par...

Is Topix a uh... you know, inbreeder site? What with all of the ignorant hate-speech that has absolutely nothing to do with the topic itself.
Sigh, I guess one can't get away from morons *anywhere*. In relation to the topic... I didn't see Frost/Nixon, but I watched The Wrestler and Milk back to back. I'm torn between the two -- I thought they both did very different and very excellent jobs. I also think the Academy has been a joke for a pretty long time, and so it doesn't really matter. |
