You don't have to abandon red after 40, just go for something more subtle. Burgundy/wine variations are a good color range. I tend to go with those in the winter and darker pinks in the summer. Dark violets for the winter and lighter ones for summer.

1 Hey Marla, trade in your old husband for a younger, more open-minded model! There is no such thing as the "wrong lipstick after 40." There is only the wrong shade for the wrong skintone. And there are hundreds of red shades, from deepest wine and burgandy to the softest rose-red. And guess what: all of these shades come back in style! Just as one company discontinues your favorite shade, another picks it up--just check out the lines at MAC, Sephora and Ulta. Don't throw away your red lipstick, just mix up your shade wardrobe a little. And by the way, don't listen to these "beauty experts." Five years from now, when you're still wearing they're "recommended pink after 40", these experts will be the first to tell you that you're stuck in a rut with pink and afraid to experiment, and that stylish women are wearing the new red or orange or whatever. Forget them and wear what you want!!! |
