Post-Musharraf Pakistan

Would that the editors of The Berkshire Eagle could take a fact-finding trip to Pakistan, no doubt Daniel Pearl's killers would like to know the date of their scheduled arrival as well as the name of their hotel.

It's all fine and well to whine about failure, but someplace in this diatribe is there one piece of constructive advise or suggestion of what our government should have done different? It's not as if there are any good options dealing with that cesspool. Why do you think so many Pakistanis come here?

Musharref was certainly less 'fixated on India' than the people like this letter writer who are fixated on the idea that America-is-ruining-the-world-a nd-oh-mi-god-we'd-better-do-so mething/change-everything/elec t-Obama/fix-everything/whateve r! This letter is just frantic, panicked, spiritually bankrupt drivel.

Whatever faults he may have had, Musharref was invaluable to our efforts against the Taliban. Who knows what the sit/stat would have been if he wasn't amenable to our call for assistance?

When the voters of Pakistan voted him out of office, the Bush Admin promptly began to encourage him to comply with his citizens wishes.

Thank God for Gen. Musharraf and George Bush. Without people like them, the brikenstock-wearing, dope-smoking, peace-sign-waving neurotics would be helpless against the Islam-or-else, every-woman-in-a-burkha friends of Al Qaeda and the Taliban.
