1 Now they have the Muslim League there, a bunch of Islamists. They'll be sorry later on to have dismissed Musharraf. In my eyes, he is quite honest compared to the former (and future) corrupt leaders of Pakistan. |

1 No sane secular,or pale-secular government ever survives in a Muslim country. At least, there is going to be a lot of blood shed a la Algeria in Pakisan. Beneath the thin veneer of democracy and civil society, the Pakistani society is much like other failed Islamic states. Mindless, barbaric religious zealotry drives the society. Not sanity or a quest for progress! |

USA,China and Saudi Arabia are the culprits who gave birth to Islamist agenda in Pakistan during the time of Zia ul Haq and the Soviet invasion of Afganisthan.
USA moved only when it backfired on it! It is going to be an interesting spectacle-unravelling of Pakistan!:):) |

In Algeria, when elections were held, the FIS made headway.
If Pakistan does not find the right economic direction, the poor/uneducated will steer Pakistan towards another 'Islamic salvation'!! The curses of Hindus/Sikhs murdered during Partition is starting to take hold! |

Zia ul Haq came after Khomeini took power. The islamization started with Khomeini, IMHO. |

1 Wherever Islam is, there is war. It makes this "Superiority" claim which does not get along peacefully with other religions/people. |

In 1947,Hindus who opted for a British style democracy quickly defined their nationhood though much of North India was under Muslim rule for several centuries.
Muslims, who had their identity defined by Islam, struggle to this day with the right choice for their identity. In 1971,Bangladesh was born, giving lie to the claim that religion alone can unite a people. Hindu society essentially divided along caste and region,is taking on the modern world superbly,in economics and politics. Ossified Islamic society like Pakistan crashes!!:) Scr** Islam?:):):) |

It is true that that the Islamic chaos in Iran fired the Sunni imagination. But there is no love lost between Iran ( Shia ) and Pakistan ( sunni ) It was the USA under Ronald Reagan who thought of the idea of taking on the USSR through "Islamic holy warriors" Saudi Arabia bank rolled the venture and China provided the cheap AK 47's and RPG's.. And cannon fodder came from all over the Muslim world and Pakistan was the staging base! |

Where ever Islam goes, blood flows!:):) |
