Wouldn't be a week at the Courant without a global warming piece. Now we have the emotional twist of a global warming Christmas. Just wait til global cooling starts. Won't THAT be fun?!

There will be no more snow, there will be no more ice, there will be no more fun, the world is going to end, I got my Nobel Prize so now who cares.

Won't THAT be fun?! Exactly! The Courant is becoming laughable. It's not only its slanted global-warming coverage. It is its overall extreme left-wing bias. No wonder circulation numbers continue to dwindle.

You are kidding right? What the heck is all this white stuff in my yard??? Hey Courant - look out of your damn windows! There is snow in New England AND it's Christmas! We hadn't even started winter and we had snow on the ground before all the leaves fell! I think the Courant's writers are delusional. The only thing melting is your circulation numbers, and it's no wonder why with the nonsense you write.

What a joke the Courant has become - don't they have windows at the Courant? I have over a foot of the stuff in the yard right now and I doubt it's going to melt by Christmas.
The whole global warming debate is a scam and the left wing won't even let any arguments against thier positon get the light of day.

I'm usually one to give the Courant the benefit of the doubt, but even I couldn't help but laugh when I saw this headline. Granted, I know you guys are saying that the snow that will remain blanketed over New England this Christmas may be an exception to the "new" rules of weather, but I would have shelved this idea until we had a drier, non-white holiday.
I'm sure there are many readers in the rural areas of our state who would be glad to send you some pictures of snow-covered barns reminiscent of the bygone era of frozen precipitation in Connecticut.

Same here in Tolland, I use the Weather Rock principal, I look out my window and if my boulder is covered with snow then it is snowing, if it is wet, then it is raining, if I see it's shadow then the sun must be out. I don't pay attention to those nuts on TV or the Courant.

What a stupid article.
I pray that the new management does something to improve this rag. I let my subscription lapse because this paper can no longer be called a "news"paper. If management can't improve it, then put it out of it's misery.

The lefty wags at the Courant never fails to disappoint when they take a liberal mantra like GW and repeat endlessly it without foundation or questioning. Nor, in the case at hand, are they willing to invite divergent views and dialogue with others who might have a different interpretation of the 'facts' of the ever-changing atmospheric phenomenon we call weather. It was a mere 30 years ago when the MSM were warning of "global cooling" and the spectre of a "new ice age" that would cipple our northern-most and southern-most lattitudes under a blanket of ice and snow that would last nine months out of the year. In fact, at four different times in the past 150 years, so-called 'experts' have predicted catastrophic heating and cooling periods that never materialized. Frankly, the current mania being inflamed by the MSM and the enviro-terrorists is probably the 5th time.
Liberals were once touted as being intellectually challenging, inquiring, willing to seek out and listen to divergent views and opinions. No longer. They've all become mindless drones adhering to a political ideology that avoids debate and demands unquestioning fealty - regardless of fact.

Ya Right . If I remember correctly it was Al Gore himself who told us Katrina was "just the beginning" and that next year the hurricanes would get even worse. That statement was followed by 2 years with Zero hurricanes making landfall in the USA.
Truth is the number of scientists who don't buy the "Humans caused global warming" myth is growing rapidly. Google Global Warming Skeptics and you quickly learn that the "consensus" is long over and the peer reviewed scientific evidence points to natural cycles.
For example 12,000 years ago Canada and the Northern USA was covered by mile-thick ice and it melted with no help from humans(The Holocene).
125,000 years ago it was way hotter than today and CO2 was skyrocketing(The Eemian). Modern Humans were not here yet, but if we were some Al Gore type would have been pointing fingers and blaming human activity.
Enjoy the warm while you can. These interglaciations don't last forever. The Vostok Ice cores proved the cycle of ice ages and interglaciations is very real.

Established scientific facts that are never reported by the MSM or mentioned as refuting the narrow, politically-motivated dogma of Al Gore and his lemming-like followers. GW mania is all about promoting an anti-growth and anti-capitalist political agenda and has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with science. Alfred Nobel must be rolling over in his grave seeing the prize named in his honor debased by such motives.

That said, I believe that it behooves us to be environmentally friendly - more solar and wind power for instance.

Congrats to the Courant for their aggressive coverage of anthropogenic global warming/climate change (AGW/CC). Keep it up.
I enjoyed reading this piece, and although it mentions global warming, the message I got from the piece wasn't that it was intended to argue that AGW/CC was happening. Rather, it was a nostalgic piece, expressing rue about the possibility of diminishing snow on the beautiful Connecticut landscape.
That doesn't stop the hyper-skeptics and denialists from coming out and roaring like a good old-fashioned New England nor'easter! Publishing a piece like this is sort of like poking a stick into an anthill. Here they come! Skeptics and denialists like ants! Is it a defensive mechanism like it is with ants? Fascinating!
One thing I'll give the flat-earth crowd: you're persistent and you're loud. And according to an overwhelming amount of the scientific evidence and ecological observation, you're wrong.
But swarm away! You can't help yourselves, any more than the ants!
AGW/CC theory does not say you won't see snow in the near future. The fact that there's snow in your yard in no way disproves AGW/CC. You're observing weather, not climate. And finally, even if the current well-documented period of global warming was not greenhouse gas-driven, the fact remains that the U.S. and world population is significantly higher than the last warming cycle. The impact this time around will be far more significant. It might be comforting to some of you that you won't see the more devastating effects in your lifetimes. It isn't to me, particularly on this day. I'd hope people, and particularly Americans, would be willing to make the reasonable sacrifices necessary to ensure that future generations receive the gift of a planet in better condition than the one we live on today.
Merry Christmas to all.
