Wow. Harsh but true. How sad that this country has fallen to such levels to put a cute, but dumb woman, in a position that should garner respect. I can not respect her or the fact that this is McCain's first judgment call. And, it smells of cheap political tricks.

"The ne'er-do-well son of the old Republican family as president"
You forgot to mention that this "SOORF" bought a baseball team with government assistance, created a new huge bureaucracy, started a war on the other side of the world, ran up huge deficits, bought off his congressional critics by approving any spending proposal, and forgot the word veto all in the name of limited government and the Republican party. "W" sounds like another president from Texas. The real question for "W" is " Are you now or have you ever been a memeber of the Republican Party?

Mr. Keillor,

What are your thoughts on Sen. McCain continuously referring to Sen. Obama in a negative almost contemptuous manner at one point referring to him as "that one". Is he just "cranky" or is there a more vile subtext to his condescension? After all, I've seen some nasty exchanges between debaters but they all have a modicum of respect for the opponent, especially a highly intelligent, accomplished adversary that is also a US Senator and colleague. How much of this has to do with the perhaps uncomfortable feeling welling up in the pit of Sen. McCain when faced with a demographic shift in the country as a whole and in the traditional seats of power in government and industry. Is he trying to encourage race based voting through his put downs? His contempt and disdain seem barely concealed and I wonder if he is going to slip and blurt out "that N****" at the next debate if he has not done that in private already.

Enough with the attacks on Palin. When is the last time you heard Barack Obama say the Pledge of Allegiance or mention the Bible?

Please tell me that you are not serious. Palin has proven herself to be not only inexperienced, but uneducated, ignorant and arrogant. John McCain proved what he really thinks of the American citizens' intelligence by appointing her as his running mate.
Keep clinging to your same moronic arguments while the national and international economies tank, our savings and retirement funds dry up, thousands of our brave soldiers sacrifice life and limb in an unjust and agenda-based war, and citizens lose their jobs, healthcare and homes.
This nation is in real trouble and when Palin can actually string together two coherent sentences, the best she can do is resurrect tired old accusations that were already deemed insignificant in the primary race. She is too stupid to address foreign policy, the economy, health care, and we are supposed to be too stupid to notice.

What does the Bible have to do with anything? Miss Alaska placed herself directly into the public eye, she has only herself to blame. "Just say no, youbetcha, doggone it."

Margo,

He says the pledge every time a Senate session opens, and give some attention to the Bible when he goes to church weekly.

Not that either have to do with leadership.

Anyway, Next question.

Is that why your arguments are so cerebral? No substance, just right wing fanatic religious talking points.

Brian,

I agree that neither really has to do with leadership. However, it is possible to learn leadership and I would rather have someone with little knowledge of politics, than someone who has been around it too long.

If it was desparation and deceit, the left wouldn't give it another thought. The fact is the truth hurts. You need to know who you're voting for, and the picture is not a pretty as many want to believe. Oh oh, the Kool-aid may be wearing off!

Keating - john mccain mentor. Think he's in jail or dead now. Mccain was censured by the US Senate for his relations with him. Don't believe they were sexual; just financial. He likes money. Divorced his first wife who was disfigured in an accident for the $$$$.

Alaskan Air Space - That space that exists between palin's ears.

Bible - Collection of Jewish mythology and oral hisory put in book form by Greeks who must have had a reason for doing so but it is long lost.

Pledge of Allegiance - Does bush know what this is. He obviously doesn't believe in it.

Margo Rocks - Yeah, well.

That One - Beware the black person.

Margo, if Mensa saw your posts, I am quite sure it would rescind its invitation to you. Your first post moronically implies that Obama is not patriotic because you have not heard him say the Pledge of Allegiance and that he is Godless because you have not heard him mention the Bible. Then, you acknowledge in another post that neither saying the Pledge nor mentioning the Bible is relevant to the question of leadership. Idiocy!

Your post also seems to defend your support for McCain/Palin by saying that "it is possible to learn leadership and [you] would rather have someone with little knowledge of politics, than someone who has been around it too long." What you wrote is directly contrary to the GOP talking points. McCain has been stooped in the politics of Washington D.C. far longer than Obama. And, the two Dem candidates have demonstrably superior intelligence and, therefore, a greater ability to learn, than the two GOP candidates.

Evaluate, with that Mensa-level brain of yours, McCain's selection of a uniquely unqualified Sarah Palin as his running mate. Then, if you still choose to vote for McCain, write a letter of apology to yourself and your children to be opened in the event McCain gets elected and goes off his rocker as POTUS or Palin ever ascends to the highest office in the land.
