McCain chose Palin to be his running mate because he is hoping that she will help him find one of his houses that he thinks may possibly be in Alaska.

John McCain OWNS Alaska! He just forgets. A LOT!

Hi! Jesus wants you to vote for me to be VP! Jesus loves the oil companies!

What does a VP do?

Here's a picture of my home town, beautiful downtown Wasilla. I was mayor there!

http://etcetera.the27.com/2008/08/downtown/

I had so much fun spending all that money on the land for the sports stadium! Someday, maybe they can even afford to build the stadium! Tee Hee!

When I'm President, I'll know exactly what to do!

I was commander in chief of the Alaska National Guard for two years! Russia is so close, it's scary!

Jesus wants you to vote for me so we can make those sinners teach creationism in the schools!
Buh-by!

From the first two comments, I see the Democrats are still into women-bashing. First, they rip apart Hillary in the primaries. Now they are trashing Palin. What a bunch of sexists.

"Analysts called McCain's move, which remained secret until yesterday morning, a bold one that could enhance his appeal to women voters. But they warned that picking an inexperienced vice presidential candidate could also prove very costly."

Gee, I guess the only thing even RISKIER would be to nominate an inexperienced PRESIDENTIAL candidate.

What's hard to take SS is not exactly a joke , it's all the fluff that 's just a little too precious . As Tim pointed out , Obama is a candidate for PRESIDENT with no foreign policy and no EXECUTIVE experience (what else is there) ,while Paolin ,as a VICE PRESIDENT , will sit in on all the meetings and pick up foreign policy . And from all appearances , based on her meteoric rise in Alaska , she's a very quick study .

McCain found his needle in the hay stack. She is a wonderful choice. If this election is going to be all about visual appeal vs. substance, McCain wins! Not only is Mrs. Palin a great looker, she is a great orator.

Conservatives can continue to crow about this wonderful choice. Just as the GOP claimed Obama was playing the race card, there have been several playing the sexist card. Look at here speech-clearly an attempt to pander. If Palin was a male, do you honestly think Palin would be on the ticket? This pick is a clear example of affirmative action! Look, if he would have picked Rice or Hutchinson, one could say the pick makes sense. This is obviously an indication of a campaign looking to please social conservatives and feminists-but like oil and water, they really do not mix well. I will admit, Palin will increase turnout amoung the Christian Right.

She is going to be ripped apart in the VP debate. If the GOP thinks that they can get women to vote for them simply because Palin is a woman, they're nuts. The GOP is still against equal pay and rights for women.

This choice is totally political. It shows how desperate McCain really is for votes. He knows there is no way he is going to win due to Bush. After listening to Obama the other night I highly doubt McCain will do well in the debates becasue he is out of touch with America.

For 3 of Obama's 4 years in the senate he has been running for office, she is the only one in the whole contest that has any executive experience. Obama talks about change...blah,blah...picks a guy with 36 years in the Senate in Biden...who still has his name on the ballot for senate just in case...what confidence. McChange has picked a woman...change, McChange has picked an outsider..change...McChange has picked a great pick... Don't be fooled by 80,000 in a stadium on a guy who will raise your taxes, spend more and has as much foregin policy experience as Palin, oh I forgot he went on a tour of Europe, while McChange was here in this country.

This is great. I can tell the Democrats are worried.

Tom, you do realize that Obama's advisers picking Joe Biden was strategic and political as well, right? Obama has no experience with anything, Biden does. What they did is no different than what McCain has done in picking his VP. The primary difference is that people are excited about Sarah Palin, while conversely, Joe Biden couldn't enthuse a circus clown.

Jay Leno isn't hinting that his political oponent is an out of touch elitist when in fact he is. It's very difficult to understand what most Americans are going through in this economy when you can't keep track of how many homes you own, when you only consider someone rich if they have more than $5 million. This kind of living for so many years can put you out of touch with the needs of your constituents. This is especially true when your constituents include all Americans. Barack Obama, on the other hand comes from a single parent home in which at one point his mother was on food stamps. He understands what it means to be poor. He worked for what he has, for he has accomplished, and so has his wife. So has Joe Biden. Joe Biden, like Barack Obama, has worked through amazingly difficult adversity in his personal life. Yes, John McCain was a POW and suffered at the hands of the VietCong. Upon coming back from the war, however, he married a beer distribution heiress, and now has trouble remembering how many homes he owns. This makes it difficult for those of us who make less than $5 million to believe that he understands our needs and our priorities.

Is Palin really the most capable and available Republican in the USA to be Vice President? I doubt it, but her choice should provide a spirited presidential campaign.
