Congresswoman Tubbs Jones dies after aneurysm
Democratic U.S. Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones, the first black woman to represent Ohio in Congress, was hospitalized Wednesday after suffering an aneurysm, her spokeswoman said.
Tubbs Jones, 58, had the aneurysm while driving her car in Cleveland Heights on Tuesday, spokeswoman Nicole Williams said. The congresswoman's condition has been stabilized at a hospital in East Cleveland, she said.

First off, the shift key is your friend.

Why should McCain raise taxes on anyone? Granted, Maverick isn't anywhere near conservative as Barry supporters would have you believe, and didn't buy into the Bush tax cuts until it was politically expedient to do so...but why would you want to penalize hard work and success by taxing "the rich" more than anyone else? And before we raise taxes, let's cut some spending first. Lots of it out there, just having the political will to do it is missing.

Everybody knows Toby is a foreign policy expert.

My family has served this country for three consecutive generations. Like McCain, my father is a Naval Academy graduate (Class of 1966).

When Mr. McCain was shot down over Vietnam in October of 1967 I was already in a living hell. My mother was nearing the end of her pregnancy and my birth. I could not tell her that the water she drank and bathed in was killing me. We did not know it at the time, but we were being poisoned by our own country! This is no lie. I was born at Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base in January of 1968. From sometime in the early 1950’s until 1987, portions of the base’s water supply became contaminated with organic solvents and fuel derivatives. These compounds lead to cancer and horrible birth defects. I was no exception. According to Senator Dole’s office, an estimated 1,000,000 service members, their families and loyal civilian employees were exposed to these compounds. I am one of 12,598 children currently under study by the Agency for Toxic Substance and Disease Registry as required by the EPA.

Like most military families, we are Republican. I even voted for McCain in the Florida Primary. Hell, he is a veteran and he would surely want to help us? I believed this until I came across a report signed in May 2007 by John McCain.

In 2000, ATSDR began the in-utero study after a delay caused by Marine Corps fears over a movie called Civil Action. From 2000-2006 there were no Congressional hearings into Camp Lejeune. We had to settle for a report from the Government Accountability Office (GAO). This report was commissioned by a Republican controlled Congress and White House. It was written to kill the Camp Lejeune issue once and for all.

In 2003, members of our group corresponded with Mr. McCain and his staff. We pointed out glaring errors and omissions in the report. In 2005, members of our group traveled to Washington and met with his staff. The GAO finished their work in 2006 and the report was released in May 2007. John McCain’s name appears second on the report. He did nothing to help us.

Thankfully, Rep. John Dingell scheduled a hearing for June 2007. This hearing was the first one on Capital hill since the issue reached a new awareness in 2000. This hearing is how I found out that I was exposed while in the womb to PCE and other VOCs at Camp Lejeune. It came 2 months after I was diagnosed with Male Breast Cancer at the age of 39. There is no history of the disease anywhere in my family.

Mr. McCain touts his veteran status and waives the flag whenever he can. Well, his record towards Veterans and their issues is appalling. His rendition of the cross in the dirt episode while in Vietnam reminds me of a cross between the 1914 WWI Christmas truce and Alexander Solzhenitsyn’s account while interred in a gulag.

I wish someone would call him out on Veterans issues and ask him why he signed off on a report that could have potentially damned 1,000,000 veterans, their families and loyal civilian employees of Camp Lejeune? Why has he turned his back on the very people he is pandering for their support?
