Analysis: Obama's speech rich in contrasts

Barack Obama took off the gloves Thursday night. Sometimes accused of being too high-minded and elitist, the Democratic presidential nominee used a rock-star stage in Mile High stadium to get down and dirty, ...

My best line of the speech was when Obama ridiculed John McCain for fighting a terrorist organisation that has bases in 80 countries by invading Iraq.

I think that shows that John McCain does not understand the National Security threats of the 21st century.

Or, maybe McCain knows that by taking the fight to Iraq, you draw those people intent on blowing up America....you draw them to Iraq.

Whether that is right is another story.

It is patently clear now we can choose between a "reckless" ignorant unintelligent recycled (Gore's word) president who I learned today had two nicknames (McNasty and Punk) because of his hot temper or we could choose a sensible, intelligent, reasoned young man.

The choice is ours, the future is ours and this evening was the start of a wonderful friendship!

Now this was a speech about the America the world needs for leadership. The mouth of the cave in which Bin Laden lives is so much closer. Why would McCain want to go to the gates of hell when he has no clue where that is? Is MCain senile? Or he just does not want to do or go anywhere? Which direction does he look to move towards the gates of hell? God Bless America a billion-fold if McCain gets anywhere near the White House!!! Obama 08!!!

Don... since you started the name calling you might want to look at yourself in the mirror when throwing the senile comment around. It was Bill Clinton that let Bin Laden get away, not George Bush. Remember the genocide in Rwanda? On Clinton's watch. USS Cole? Clinton's watch. First bombing of the World Trade Center? Clinton's watch. Get real.

Bill Clinton is NOT running for President. Neither is Bush. McCain says he wants to go to the gates of hell to find Bin Laden, where ever those gates might be. Totally neglecting the caves on earth that our Government says Bin Laden is hiding in! Clearly, someone who wants to go to a place no one has ever gone to, found, or returned from, exhibits extraordinary incapability to think. In my book, at that age, that implies senility of the top order. Very unfortunate indeed.

The issue is not who let Bin Ladin get away. The issue is how do we bring him to justice now. Quit dwelling in the past...the future is where this country needs to go, and the future has started when you read this response!!

You know maybe if Georgie Jr. had actually READ THE BRIEF about "al qaeda determined to strike in the U.S." 9/11 would not have happened. It is beyond my comprehension as to how anyone can defend this traitorous band of thieves that currently resides in the White House. If you were to read actual FACTS about these two administrations you would see that Bill Clinton lead the country for eight years of peace and prosperity, while Georgie and his thugs have done everything they could to run this joint into the ground. YOU sir, need to get real.

No further comments. Obama said what he had to say.His meaning clear.Truth revealed. People willing to listen and make an objective evaluation will benefit from the experience. Others with a predetermined opinion lets hope they have good analytical ability and can justify their belief. If not, pray they don't vote.

I found it amazing flipping between MSNBC, CNN and FOX. Most of the time Fox was interviewing someone when the Dems were speaking. Hannity with many Dems, asking his stupid questions and each Dem told him to get a life. Even after Obamas great speech, Wallace and Kristo gave Kudo's to Obama. Fred Barnes was a jerk, couldn't say one nice thing about the events, except the fireworks was nice. He is like McCAin..90 Bush Cheney McCain Barnes and really Fox also. When Obama wins they will have to eat crow...I luv it

George can't read. He was apparently pretending to in front of children in a class room when he was told about 9/11 happening. What did he do next? Cleared the entire US airspace as I hear it and allowed only aircraft carrying Bin Ladins to fly and rule our skies!! If this is true, has McCain actually ever said anything about it? Instead he seems to believe those Bin Ladins-carrying planes were headed to some airport at the gates gates of some hell!! I am really getting frustrated by McCain. He is supposed to have been a soldier. We are supposed to be creating strategies to make our country safer and he talks about going to the gates of hell? It is really saddening.

The writer's attempt at balance was thinly veiled. His attack bordered on vitriolic. Most unprofessional. Political correctness is not necessary when giving an unbiased assessment. At one point in the article, the writer almost seems to rant, connecting unrelated topics - one moment complaining about cellphone overload created by all of the conventioneers, and in the next breath remarking about the heavy historical, political and cultural load of the night's event. What's up with that about?

I really didn't know what to expect, but I listened closely and really do think that this is the greatest American leader since JFK. Really guys, I'm an old cynic, but having heard this speech I think this is our last great shot to keep the American Dream afloat.

How can anyone deny his great vision?

Vote for him and watch the USA not only survive but prosper in the rest of the world.
