Obama's online muscle flexes against him

The same Internet-fueled power that led to historic gains in organizing and fundraising for Sen. Barack Obama's presidential campaign is now providing a platform for fiery dissent in a most unlikely place: his own Web site.

"...fiery dissent within".
I LOVE IT!
"Controversy!
Dispute and criticism",....he mutters.
The hot and dreary doldrums of summer are fast approaching.
The wind is slowly, yet surely being let out of his sail.
Thank you,
Mother Nature.

Obama is a say-anything-to-get-elected kind of candidate. It's only a few months before the general election and nobody seems to know where he stands. "Ready to lead on day one"? I don't think so. Obama simply is not qualified and it shows. If he ever gets elected, imagine the chaos it will be. Obama just doesn't know what he's doing. This is what happens when you don't have solid principals.

Oh jeez, take a tall glass of ice water and a chill pill.
Politicians change position all the time, that's why they're politicians. The good ones, who mostly stick by what they say, don't run for president.
For many years, Sen. McCain was admired by voters on both sides of the aisle for many of his own policies which were too centrist for his Republican colleagues and especially for his rabid right Republican colleagues. Remember the "Straight Talk Express?" That's long gone and he's sucking up every chance he gets to the far-right, all-white conservatives because they detest him and always have and their support is, at best, room temperature, not even lukewarm.
It kills me that voters on both sides call all this maneuvering "a dealbreaker" and go all foamy at the mouth. Oh what? Like you're going to go vote for the other candidate? Puh-leeze. Get a grip.

This stort seems to be missing some words:

"Obama had pledged earlier this year to oppose—even filibuster—legislation that would RETROACTIVELY immunize telecommunications companies against lawsuits that challenge PAST cooperation with federal authorities in warrantless wiretapping."

Any reason why you guys didn't notice his pro nuke, pro 'clean coal' b.s. stance while he was busy calling Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton and Geraldine Ferraro racist?
Any reason why we need to risk losing because you guys and young gals wanted to play the 'we hate the mature woman' game and risk giving mccain the white house?
Are ya paying attention now?
If he doesn't admit he made a mistake on FISA and IMMEDIATELY apologize to clinton(s) and ferraro--I think he's a goner.
His only hope would be to make sure clintons are on board or it's mcsame.

I'm an Obama supporter, but also not afraid to be his biggest critic. I'm glad his base is slamming him for this decision to grant telecom immunity. I let him know that this not only sets a dangerous precedent for the rule of the law in this country, but also serves to underline the spinelessness of the Democrat Party. Unlike many of the rightnuts who post here, I don't just blindly defend everything my candidate or party does. I do the American thing...I hold them accountable.

Hey Helen, WAKE UP! He ran on a platform of not being like the other politicians. Now you are saying that it is Ok if he acts like one now that he has secured the democratic nomination. And then you compare him to McCain, which means there is not much of a character difference between them!

Helen's hit the nail squarely on the head for me and many others! Thank you!

McCain has 'sold his soul' to the very same Washington lobbyists as well as the Bushites and their discredited foreign & domestic policies that he once railed and fought against, in order to gain his current nomination.
The wheels have long since come off McShame's once admired 'Straight Talk Express'!
It now sits at the 'political roadside' as a rusting monument to McCain's willful and shameful hypocrisy!

Perhaps the change Obama has been campaigning about is really no change. He, like anyone else, will say what he has to say, do what he has to do in order to be elected POTUS. There is really no change. It is just politics as usual.

Liberals should be used to thier elected officals being frauds, I can't see what the problem is here. He's moving to the center rhetorically only,he'll be a card carrying liberal once in office,so relax.

143 Days of Senate experience...that is all he had before SOMEONE decided he should run for President.

Empty suit, black separatist extremist church and preferred as President by Hamas terrorists.

Tax everyone, take their hard earned money and redistribute it in the Communist way...

That's Obama, a product of corrupt City of Chicago politics.
