Students of Political Science: SAVE this article. It is the finest piece of POLITICAL IRONY I've ever seen, and ever hope to see. It is delightful, in its' machinations... the wrecking-ball man; blaming the carpenter, repairing the building; for the damage of the previous tenants. Better IRONY even than Newt Gingrich leading Clinton's impeachment,(but not as impacting.) And that's saying something.

Are they blaming Barney Frank and the democratic congress of George Bush Administration for wrecking the building business and causing the mortgage meltdown? Good. I hope they continue to do so, Thanks for bringing it up, Dummy.

So, let's see. They're attacking an economic policy which: 1. Bush endorsed and carried out (TARP) 2. Is the standard for economic reform (Keynesian economics) LOL (shaking head)

ReTHUGlicans and Dems collaborated on deregulating the banks and Wall St., so they both had a hand in the events leading up to the collapse and recession.

I have my objections too, instead of "cash for clunkers" there should have been a massive tax on any vehicle getting less tham 15 MPG, and a stipend for anyone wishing to but a car geting 35MPG or better. But, overall, it worked.

Sorry but your buddies crack house doesn't count. No one's disputing that small businesses are going bankrupt, idiot. I challenged you to show me how that was the result of Obama raising taxes, and neither you nor your article did that. Here's what it says in the case of one business: "Rising gas and food prices, increased competition and an ill-timed expansion cut profits. Local unemployment made matters worse, because the regulars no longer showed up. In April, the restaurant's owner, Eva Christian, was one of 8,149 U.S. business owners who filed for bankruptcy-court protection." Hmm...economic problems, competition, and her own mistakes doomed her business. Don't see "Obama tax increase" in there anywhere, do you? Idiot.

"Romney to claim, against evidence, that stimulus cost jobs." rugby the empty vessel attempts another re-write....and draw attention away from his leading the state of MA to a stellar 47th out of 50 states in job creation during his 'leadership'. Damn mavericky.

Hmm...economic problems, competition, and her own mistakes doomed her business. Don't see "Obama tax increase" in there anywhere, do you? Idiot. I am going to challenge you to read and pay attention. small business owners say that they are currently not looking for any new workers Why are they not hiring? Of those who said they were not hiring, 48% cited their concern about possible rising healthcare costs (Read: ObamaCare). Another 46% said that they were worried about new government regulations. Who can blame them? The economy, of course, is also a huge factor. And here’s one more interesting stat: 71% of small businesses surveyed said that revenues from sales wouldn’t justify hiring additional workers. The cost of employing people, thanks to government regulations, is not worth it to an employer, even if they are successful at generating revenue. •All small businesses. There were 30 million tax returns reporting small business income in 2008. On net (profits reduced by losses), these owners reported business profits of $981 billion. A large chunk of this net profit--$488 billion--faced taxation in households making more than $200,000 per year. A majority of small business profits will face a tax rate hike under the Obama-Pelosi-Reid plan. •Sole proprietors. There were 22 million tax returns reporting sole proprietor income in 2008. On net (profits reduced by losses), these owners reported business profits of $264 billion. A large chunk of this net profit--$90 billion--faced taxation in households making more than $200,000 per year. 34 percent of sole proprietor profits will face a tax rate hike under the Obama-Pelosi-Reid tax hike plan. •S-corporations and partnerships. There were 8 million partners and S-corporation shareholders in 2008. On net (profits reduced by losses), these owners reported business profits of $717 billion. A majority of this profit--$398 billion--faced taxation in households making more than $200,000 per year. 55 percent of S-corporation and partnership profits will face a tax rate hike under the Obama-Pelosi-Reid tax hike plan. How is all this going to affect your hiring? Doug Holtz-Eakin, a former Congressional Budget Office director predicts that tax increases on the rich could reduce small business hiring by 18%. This might be OK with the Obama crowd. The more people without work, the more people you have dependent on government ... and THAT is the grand Obama scheme.
