I think that it is very cool for Joe Bonammassa to find acclaim now.

It is a fact that he is a long time talent who is only getting more proficient in the craft.

I hope he is able to stay well with his opportunity to reach so many people here and abroad.

Monumental achievement to play the Royual Albert Hall.

Wish him the best,

sincerely,

He's second rate. If he was really any good he'd be famous by now. I love these "Local boy does sorta good" articles! SHows how we lack talent around here. Call us when he HEADLINES the Royal Albert Hall and when he stops calling himself the ing of teh Blues OK?

The article says:

"I don't like to be called the king of anything," says the 32-year-old guitar player from Utica, N.Y.

"It's not embarrassing really. It's just that I never said it and the punters will come and say,'So you think you're the new king of blues? Prove it.' "

Work on your reading comprehension, you goof.

Joe has a huge following everywhere out side of Utica. Heaven forbid that Utica support someone that has clearly done well for himself.

The RA Hall gig was prestiegous for sure1 My impression of Joe is that it was probably just one of many contacts he has with the worlds premiere players. He difinitely IS one and to deny that regardless of personal taste is ludicrous. Joe deserves his noteriety. He's a true artist. btw I'm almost strictly a jazz fan but I do know the real thing when I hear it.

There is always some smuck who can't even sing happy birthday in key who is pissed off about someone else's labor of love. Along with that persons talent being acknowledged for it in print, recording, touring,or any other manner.

Like this smucks got a 100 gigs under his belt let alone every bought more than two packs of guitar strings at a time.Maybe you don't even play guitar hero ......So shut up !...and sit Down ...your wife wants you to take the garbage out, besides you got to get up early to go to work and kiss ass you don't have time to be on TOPIX giving your lame point of no give of shit point of view!

Must be the ULTRA slow ride to success I wonder if "smokin" Joe kept his day job? Or does he even have a job?

Prodegy? Nope.(maybe around Utica!)
"Smokin"? Average.
"KING of the Blues"? NEVER! I didn't know upstate ny was considered a good spawning ground for superduper bluesmen. If he was that good he'd be famous by now or did SRV, B.B. King and Clapton wait till they were all 40? Sounds like Joe should be practicing as much time as he spends coming up with great adjectives for himself he is about 40 years behind the times.

Kenny Wayne shepard isnt considered a "Prodigy" He is just thought of as plain old AWSOME!! And he is younger than Joe Bonamassa , if only by a month or two. Dont get me wrong, I like Joe and he is a good player, he is not in the same class with guys like Kenny Wayne. Ive seen both numerous times, no comparison.

Ummm no I don't spend my days dreaming about childish things like this I toured with a band that has MILLIONS more fans than your nobody there. I got it out of my system so you keep trying to have a vagina contest with someone who cares ok?
The fact that Joe Blowmassa has NO HITS at 33 pretty much excludes him from EVER being considered anything other than "King of Hype".

Honestly who writes these chees articles? "King of the Blues"? SOMEONE must have started calling Joe that and trust me it wasn't anyone BUT HIM! Why would a professional even CONTINUE such an unfortunate interview once the writer started talking all that gay "King of the blues" crap? See? NO ONE but Joe is promoting that and there is news for him=== He sucks and isn't even on par with other "unknowns". As for him EVER being the king of the Blues well, about 200 other people would have to have never been born before that would be true. WHo the fk is Joe Zero Bonamassa? Seriouslly! He plays session on a crowded Albert Hall (known as a dump these days) and suddenly we get the poofy articles.

Tell Joe he's about a dozen #1 HITS shy of being clapton's guitar tuner ok?

Agree what a stupid thing to allow the interviewer to even talk about such a stupid thing he was setting himself up he should heve stopped the interview if that was what the interviewer wanted to discuss. What paper was this article for a highschool newspaper? Seriously who brought that up? I doubt anyone else is going around thinking of Joe nobody as the King of the Blues. Something is stupid here. HAHAHAHA! Like everyone at the show walked out and said "Wow Eric who??? BB Who??? That smoking Joe guy is the "NEW KING OF THE BLUES!!" There are many much more talented blues players out there. Blues is where all failed rock musicians end up!

The dude played with B.B. King and Stevie Ray Vaughn That's good enough to be famous in Utica for me! He's already accomplished more that 99.9998% of anybody from this area and yes, even the real king, Eric Clapton, has given this kid high praise. Need I say more?

Rock on smokin' Joe! Cry in your beers you envious bastards!

PLENTY of people can play better than Bobamassa he just takes himeslef a lil too serious with the SMOKIN name lol didn't he ever see a camel ad?? He musta watched crossroads a lil to much when he was little. Typical for utica they are impressed with almost no tlent and will whine when you point out that theres ten thousand other people who would shred the guys face off. Maybe he should go to Arkin-haw where all the real blues fans seem to be. Good luck Johhny maybe in another 30 years youll get to top 10! LOL!
