No doubt about it. Merle and Willie are great writers and performers. When it comes to singing though they are not close to Ray Price. I believe Ray has the best voice ever in country music.

Saw Ray on the Opry on tv a month ago and he still has a great voice. Who will take over for these guys?
Randy Travis and Josh Turner hopefully will hang in there. |

Hello,
I just wanted to let your readers know about a contest we're holding on The 9513 to give away two free tickets to The Last Of The Breed concert taking place in Austin on March 17th. It coincides with the last weekend of SXSW, so a lot of people should be in town. You can check out the details at http://www.the9513.com/the-last-of-the-breed-... 9513 |

OH MERLE...OH MERLE...few songwriters are left in the corral, most sit idling their engines outside McHonalds...tasteless bits of carbose, with a side of fresh packaged squashed tomato juice...
Met the great mikebeck.com at the Merle Show in SF...thought he was the great William Mathews, and went over to talk, and it was Mike, there to see Merle...There are few of us who have few to admire...most sell their souls by the side of the road, before they even get to the crossroads... Its only with some of younger austin/bandera texas based writers that this genre of music will survive...so many have headed to smashville...am most greatful that Comer (W)...introduced me to Townes Van Zant...was insistant that Townes meet me, and intoduced me to Papa Josh Graves...blessings to have someone who insisted that those creative people meet you. Thanks Comer...will always recall our meeting there in Santa Rosa, in front of Aromas....When I do get back, been 4 years, I cafe at the Flying Goat...love their principals...honest people... |

RAY PRICE....what is the cost, and where is the serving of rice...finally got a chance to see Ray several years back at the smoke meat fest in Ville Platte Lou/ana...there as well trying to make connection for two Vidrine Breaus, who were a stable force for me years ago, at McNeese...intelligent coon askes....
someone with the local VVA.org turned me on where to connect with John...just sent him a tribute that I did to my Uncle Larry Cooper, in appreciation of what he stood for, both John and my uncle, who he never met....he met him through me thou... Coopers are verbose, we are to talk about RAY and the Cherokee Cowboys...tracing that linage to my uncle and family...the Cherokee...RAY talked about encouraging the young William Nelson with his first song... A man (RAY PRICE) of principal, could have bought the song for a dime and made a fortune...He wanted the young William Nelson to make it...twas that a strange looking young man in 1948, outside that farmhouse in Abbott...THE KING AND I...(google)roscoebeauregard.blogspot.com |
