Home insurance yanked as wildfires burn

Sounds like a scam to me.

Insurance companies are crooks generally as are real estate people. They even have the mafia as head of the State Real Estate Commission. He head of the State Insurance Commission was a crook.

and if you dont have a fire station within 5 road miles to your house...your insurance will triple or they will drop you all together

This is happening to me now. I've had coverage with USAA for over 20 years, with no claims. They sent out a contracted inspector last month to take pictures. I just got a call from USAA yesterday informing me they will not renew because they "cannot develop a rate structure for my property". No way to appeal; no way to correct any issue. I live in the forest and there are redwoods on the property, but I have followed and exceeded my fire dept. guidelines and have NO brush or dead vegetation on the property.

They did the same thing to my dad and his home in Redwood Estates. No specific defect, never a claim, customer for 58 years.

Apparently there is no appeal to the insurance commisioner; an insurance company has no obligation to renew a policy, no reason needed.
