Annette,
In my 65 years I don’t know of anybody that is more loved by more people than Annette. Television didn’t start here in Australia until September 1956 long after Annette appeared on the MMC. We didn’t get a TV set till much later. I watched I guess like most kids for entertainment. But I found myself waiting for Annette to appear. I would hang on every word she spoke or sang and very smile or expression. I knew in my heart this young lady had something very special. Your caring, sensitiveness and loving personality always came through to me every time I watched you. I didn’t know it then but little by little I was falling in love with you. I was 16 when your first movies came out and I felt by then I had special feelings for you. I knew I guess like most of us that nothing could ever come of it. I live on the other side of the world and had always felt awkward around girls. I knew there was no hope in that direction. A Canadian friend when he was here got me to go to the beach movies. He said they had a big following where he came from. I had seen The Shaggy Dog by then. I didn’t really want to go to see Annette and Frankie as I knew it would only rekindle something that could never be. But I went and suffered through those beautiful images of Annette on the screen. In later years I was married twice and twice they failed. I had put Annette in the background or so I thought. This was until I found out just recently that she had MS. I think living in Australia is like living in some uninformed out of the way place. By then Annette had had the sickness for at least 20 years. I am now devastated at the thought of loosing her completely. I am getting as many of her movies, music, photos I can as well as her book. I can’t seem to get “Her Story” movie. I thing this is to try and hang onto as much of her as I can and take my life back to her happier times. Thank you Annette for just being you and bring so much happiness to us all. You crept into my heart Annette so many years ago and you will never leave. All my love, Colin |

Can somebody please tell me about the following? On Google Earth I have found a location near Big Bear City 92314. It shows as “Annette Funicello, My Heart Belongs to You”. I am curios to know what it is. As I am in Australia and never been to that part of the world I need help from some one there.
Thank you. |
You need to find a new hobby. Try Olivia Newton-John |

Colin--I looked up what you saw,and what it is is "user-generated content".In other words,Google didn't put it there.A fan did.My guess is that someone around Big Bear put it in as an "easter egg".In case you don't know,an "easter egg" is a hidden feature on a DVD.They don't tell you it's there;you hafta hunt for it.For those reading this and want to see it,go to Google Earth and punch in "Annette Funicello" into your search bar. Finally, remember this:life is like a rose bush.If you want to enjoy the beauty,ya gotta encounter a few pricks along the way!(and you KNOW what I mean!)

Was thinking about you today for some reason- perhaps because your birthday is coming up. I still have my comic book of your auto biography and many happy memories of watching you on TV and in the movies. You have been a person of special beauty and will be a joy to people forever.

One of the most important things in my day was to get home in time to see the Mickey Mouse Club. The best part of any show was Annette. I was always pleased with the fact that I was Italian and similar in looks to Annette. Hang in there dear one. God bless you.

The highlight of my day was to get home for the "Club." Was always delighted to see Annette. It made feel good to be Italian and have similar looks as you (but not the talent).
God bless you, dear one. Thank you for the good times. Love, Rosie (daughter of Pasqualina Esposito) |

I don't know if anyone will see this in time (before they remove it),but the CNN website has news about a leukemia drug that works on MS patients.Go to their "health" section.I don't know if it's the miracle we're praying for,but maybe...just maybe...

annette was a role model to me as a teen. i had no one to look up to so i choose her. i turned out to be a moral person. people laugh at that today but it used to be admired.

Sherry, Good for you. I have lived 65 years and I have seen many fall by the wayside as they get involved in the free thinking ways of the world. In my younger days there were less problems and families stayed together. In Australia we now have an over 50% divorce and separation rate. Most kids don’t even know where they belong. Which house they call home. With the crime rate climbing and as relationships fall apart many still seem to think the new way is best. Trust and honesty are still the basis of a loving relationship. A U.S. Military officer during the Second World War made this statement,“if a person didn’t think twice about betraying their family they wouldn’t think twice about betraying their country”. This is as true today as it was then and something I believe over anything else. Don’t ever apologize for a moral standing. Others who scoff at you doing so will live to regret it and they someday will pay the price. There may come a day when they will be like the ones banging on Noah’s Ark as the waters rose. One of the many things I love so very much about Annette is her high principles. These are never out of date. Sherry don’t ever change for anybody. Annette didn’t and the ones among us who love her dearly would never want her to. I will love her forever. Colin |

Aside from the statistic,I agree with everything you just said,Colin.(Here in the U.S.,the rate is more like 60%--and climbing!)

I do hope you are doing well and that they find a cure, I have a picture of you on my dresser and every morning I say morning nettie and night nettie. I always wonder what would Annette do in this or that situation. You have had so much influence on young girls of the sixtys so please know you are loved and admired.

Dear Annette,
You and I are "birth twins." We were both born on the same day, same month, same year. October 22, 1942. There are not many people in the USA who were born on exactly the same month/day/year. Lots of people are born on the same day but not the same year. That makes us SPECIAL! When I celebrate my own birthday I always think about you also celebrating your birthday at the same time as I am with my family. Hope you have tons of happy days. Larry Smith SMSgt, USAF (Ret.) Rantoul, Ilinois |

On any given day, 10,657 babies are born in the United States. Sorry, Sparky, you are not so special... |
|
|
That's still .003% of the U.S. population,so,yeah,jerk,they ARE special...
|
|
I disagree...but YOU are Special Education, Dillweed. |
