Update on Annette Funicello

Dear Annette, I am writing this to you to wish you well and how ironic life is. My mom watched and was a fan of yours when you were on The Mouseketeers. You were someone she admired and vowed to name her child after you. Well, I am that child and always was proud to announce my name and say "my mom named me after The Annette Funicello. I have hair just like you. Today I found out that I have MS. How ironic. I know everyone has different symptoms. I am 43 and as far as I can tell the symptoms are mild at this time. I am looking for more information on MS. I trust God and know that everything has a plan. But in thinking how crazy that I am named after you, and now I also sad to say have MS. I was just thinking and looking on line about MS and your name came up. I hope you read this and I hope you are well, comfortable and in no pain.
You have been an example to young women of the baby boomers and I am only sorry to say that for my daughter, I wish there was a young women just like you that could be an inspiration and example to her. Now a days it is very rare.

I am a 60 yr. old woman from Cincinnati, OH and I have lung problems, can't stand for more than 3 or 4 mins. and can only walk a few feet, but I send my love and prayers to you for your relief from your suffering. I have always loved and admired you. You were and are so beautiful and such a lady. Everything you did was with such beauty, dignity and grace. I pray God touches and heals you and eases your pain. It would be so wonderful to see you be able to get up and walk again.

Annette, My prayers are with you and your family. I have read the many messages sent to you. You have made such an influence on peoples lives. You are so loved by everyone. That is a real accomplishment. Someone said that we don't know why things happen to us, I believe God allows us to glorify Him by letting us be examples of His strength and love. You have been that. Dearest Annette, I want you to know someone is praying for you. My name is Antoinette, and I watched you sing and dance when was a little girl like you. We were a big Italian family(off the boat from Italy). You taught me so many things as we all grew up together. I think of your children and your daughter. I know they are your arrows in your quiver as scripture says. You are what I call the the fiber of our lives in America. I am a flight attendant, almost 28 years international and see a change in the world. Sad, but, we had the best of times. I have some illness and was diagnosed with MS almost 8 years ago. The doctors have many conflicting reports and it is very frustrating. Many girls I fly with suffer with MS. You have a wonderfull husband and he is blessed to have you and you for him. I don't know if your parents are still alive but those Italian mom's not only make the best meatballs but the best mom's. I hope you are comfortable and ready for the Lord to receive you not take you. The pain and the ability to function as an angel is what you ARE. Fibromyalga, is what seems to start this ugly disease. I am going forward and knowing that no matter what we have we have the eternal hope. You are in my heart and the memories of your talent and smile will be forever. Like so many others, I've loved you for many years since I'm now 64. I lost my album with all the collection of pics I had of you, everything imaginable, now totally gone. You've heard so many people say how you brought us joy and you did, for me and my husband. We both watched you and loved you and will always have you in our hearts. Since JESUS is the way, if we are believers we will have eternal life and I thank you for all the happiness you gave to us all. Love, Joy

I heard about Annette Funicello about her poor health. She is going blind and she will be Home with the Lord pretty soon (Only God knows when He'll take her). I have a picture of her with her autograph. Her husband Glen is doing fine and takes care of her. We wish her well.

I hope Glen knows how much we admire him for his love and dedication to Annette in her illness. It is surely a hard thing to watch her decline as time goes by. I hope he has been able to communicate to her somehow how many thousands of people still love her, admire her (and him) and pray for them both. It occurred to me that she and Princess Diana are probably two of the most loved women who ever lived! And she has been loved for many more years!

I have been and always will be a fan of Annette. My heart was broken when I learned of her poor health and she is on my mind from time to time. Does anyone know how she is doing? I am so glad that there is not alot of publicity about her in the tabloids but I would like to know how she is and where she is living now.

My wife to has cronic-progressive m.s. It is one the
most incidious diseases going.She was diagnosed in 1994 and is now almost blind,bedridden(complete with
bedsores)totally incapable of doing anything for herself,has a catheter,is in constant pain,can't speak much,has trouble swallowing,eating etc.I am not religious,but I do pray she has a quick death.The toll on our family has been imense.Only
a cruel or deranged person could think there is a "higher" purpose for this kind of suffering.If any god picks and chooses us like this...he's fucked.

Annette, I have been praying for you and hope you know that you still have many fans out here praying for you every day.

Annette, I grew up with you also and have been browsing the web, reliving all the old child actors that were on the Walt Disney productions, and remembering how much light you gave me in my youth.

Like many of the previously posted notes, I grew up with you. From the days of my cardboard ears with my white t-shirt with my name on the front, through the boufant hairdo of the beach movies even to my wedding gown with a large Catholic wedding. Even though it was a hooped skirt, it was all lace. The fond memories you create for so many people is priceless. So I wanted to let you know you're so fondly thought of this Christmas season. Prayers to you and your family.

Annette, I grew up with you watching the Mickey Mouse Club. I was born on Feb. 16, 1947 and I watched that show religiously. I also watched the movies that you co-starred in with Frankie Avalon. I always tried to emulate you. I was so sad to learn of your MS and pray that the Angels will surround you and protect you. I think of you often and will keep you in my prayers.

I was one of the lucky one's...In 1958 at the age of 9 I was in NYC with my grandparents. My grandmother took me to the play Lil Abner and out front of the theatre was Annette. I got to see her in person...My grandmother approached her and got her autograph on the back of a busy card from Macy's...I kept and treasured it for years until someone stole it from me, but the memory is still there...Good luck and good bless Annette

I've been a fan of Annette's for decades. A faithful follower of the old Mickey Mouse Club, she was my favorite, and I watched all her films as she grew up.
I do not pray. My mother died a slow lingering death with ALS and I completely lost my faith because of it; God in his mercy did not see fit to take her. Since I do not pray I would hope with all my heart that Annette's trials end soon, there is no selfish reason to keep her here in the condition she is in. I would hope and wish fervently for a swift release so that she may join the Creator of her faith.
Go peacefully, Annette. Go swiftly. You gave the world a great gift and you will live on in our memories.

I have grown up with you and feel that I know you. I have met you several times and you were always so nice to talk to. The times we met and talked will always be remembered by me very fondly. My heart and prayers are with you daily and I pray that the Lord will give you strength and comfort during this very trying time in your life.
