And now a return to our regularly scheduled program, which is "UPDATE on Annette Funicello" (not "Well Intentioned Letters to Annette...That She'll Never See"). For thos einterested , here is a forum containing said actual updates: http://209.157.64.200/focus/f- news/2687740/posts The thread at that site is discussion on Annette after the March 2011 fire at her home. It usefully included posts from several people with firsthand, current knowledge of Annette's condition, several of which I have quoted below. Posted Saturday, March 12, 2011 1:04:29 PM by lowbridge: "The last I recall, she was partially or completely blind, couldn't speak and could only communicate by blinking her eyelids. A few months ago or so one of her relatives mentioned visiting her in the hospital. I asked this person to report back what was wrong, and how well she is doing. After which that relative clammed up. They're trying to keep her condition completely within the family." Posted Saturday, March 12, 2011 1:58:29 PM by CaliforniaCon "I live near Annette and YEARS ago saw her in a horrible state, in a motorized wheelchair accompanied by a nurse at a local market. Like I said, YEARS ago. She was very bad off THEN; imagine how bad she is now. I’ve known of another very bad case of MS and what you have read and seen in photos tells the tale."

My dear Annette. My hear goes out to you and your family as I suffer from Multiple Sclerosis also. I was diagnosed 20 years ago and it is currently in the manageable stage. I am 63 and have followed you for years.Following your updates keeps me focused. You have been my inspiration throughout my illness. Only those who suffer like us can understand. As such, I do understand everything you go through. I'm a violinist and about a year ago I had to drop out of the symphony I played with for 25 years due to neurological condition. My sister also suffers from MS and is confined to a wheelchair 24/7. I will always keep you in my heart and prayers. Thank you for being a part of my life.

AmyJo Lemley wrote: Annette, I am 40 years old and was diagnosed with having MS since I was in my 20s. I grew up watching you, wishing I were you, and now we have so much in common, ironically. I am also losing my vision, difficulty speaking, but I know our loved ones know what we're thinking just by looking into our eyes (yes, I have brown eyes too!) God says not to question, that everything is for a reason; I don't know what the reason for MS is, maybe it just teaches us that obtaining peace within ourselves is possible. So, I think of you, I pray for you, and at times that you may not feel strong, as I know there are times I don't, ask God for his strength. All my love, AmyJo Your message above all the others spoke to me!!! I too have ms and since your comment was from several years back, I was wondering how you are doing now. Your message was very inspiring to me, even though it was for Annette.

If I could ever find a woman exactly like you I'd be the happiest man on earth.I'd hold her in my arms and heart forever and treasure ever moment I'd have with her.
I wish so much a cure would be discovered to help you and all who suffer from this disease. I will keep you in my prayers Annette, youll always be in my heart.

My prayers go out for Annette and her family. I, too, remember her from the Mickey Mouse Club days. That's all we talked about as we walked over to Church for Mass each day. God bless you, Annette. Offer up your sufferings for your family and for this sad, mixed up world. I am putting you and yours on the Medjugorje prayer line that goes out to thousands around the world. Blessings, pat

Dear bottomless website void: those with no brains continue to post messages here that go unread by the intended recipient. But the useless posting go on because certain people have the inabilty to understand that this is forum is for updates and is not a shrine.

I think that most that post are just relating to a kindred feeling of loss or empathy, no harm, just waiting for tat final word.

Well now it is hard to know what to say but that I had a friend and neighbor who had MS and when I heard that Annette, the Annette......had it it broke my heart. I just thought of you today and wondered how you were doing. My friend has been asleep for several years now. What a horrible disease. I too would like to see the end of it! You were so much a part of our young lives. Sometimes that was a daily show for me and my sisters. And I must say a good influence. I used to sing that song beauty is as beauty does and do dishes, and we loved the serials (continued little films. I hope you have taken comfort in knowing your young life and the way you lived it meant so much to the lot of us. With love.........
