It is however, a shame, that the votes do not reflect accurately, the talents that be.

Very disappointed in tonight
I knew Carly would go eventually
but the bottom two should have been JASON and BROOKE
they are charming sweet and have a nice simple range but they are not great singers
the bottom two tonight - have more range and can sing better but what does SInging
have to do with all of it or chikezie and Aussie Michael would have made it closer to the end
ah not fair
it will be battle of the davids for sure
and third brooke or jason take your pick

I'm not surprised. I love Carly's voice, but, didn't like Carly. I cringed through Brooke's performance, but, her humanity shines through. I didn't adore Jason's performance, but, he is a winner. Star quality is a factor in voting and rising above the crowd. While Carly had the best female singing voice, she is annoying and lacks charisma, in my opinion. That's why her first album tanked despite massive money infused into promoting her. She shines above and beyond Amy Winehouse, but, Winehouse has that unique charisma that makes her worthwhile to the masses. Carly does not. Her personality is grating and cloying. Her voice is often shrill, sharp and shouty, not a function of her God-given talent, but, of the engine inside her. She will fade into obscurity other than singing in lots of bars. Brooke will probably win an Academy Award one day, and Jason Castro probably will be a successful 21st Century Bob Dylan. He's got a great quality about him. My favorite is David Cook, but, I think America did get it right. It's not only about talent, but, style, humanity, soul and beauty. That's what makes a real star.

I am not either a Carly or Syesha fan, but I thought both were robbed. I felt Syesha's performances were improving week-to-week.

At least Carly deserved to join Brooke in the bottom three, with Jason being voted out.(I haven't heard a more painful performance since week 3.)

Clearly, I underappreciated the voting power of teen-age girls who have no muscial taste.

Yes, color me disillusioned.

Waiting for David on David (yawn)...Cook is awesome/sexy, Archuletta is a baby and of no interest. Now then, Jason is interesting/sexy and unusual...makes me want to watch. Hmmmm, what would drive more $$$$ in the end? Hoping for a Cook/Castro showdown...now that would be intersting!

I was dissapointed that Carly smithson was knocked off. I felt she had a good hand on her singing and strong performance ethics in my opinion. I was really hoping that brooke was the one tonight .

We therefore conclude that American's are:
1) not wise voters!
2) unfair
3) American Idol is not a singing competition but a popularity contest

I think you are an idiot and need to get a life...or actually a brain - it was so bad I couldn't even get 1/2 way through it. Your comment on the group song "All I Ask Of You" shows how you know nothing about music

Don't know why they call this 'American Idol'. It should be called 'unadulterated bullsh*t' or 'completely irrelevant'.

Guess the undereducated unwashed masses have to have something to watch...

Saving Jason and voting out Carly is stupidity!
Sorry Jason fans, Carly deserves to be on top.
Not even David Cook and David Archuleta compared to Carly, no match! Carly has powerful voice!

I didn't get to watch the vote off, so thanks for the recap. Tuesday's show was a bit painful, this is so out of the contestants' comfort zone, and except for JCS, and I don't like or know the other musicals. I hated to see Brooke falter again, she is one of my favorites, reminding me a little of Tori Amos or Jewel, but it seems that the competition and nasty bloggers are getting to her. It is really sad to see so many rude and negative comments all over the internet, regarding any of the singers, too many people are only happy when they're putting other people down. I've enjoyed performances by all of the top six, as well as many who've gone before and sincerely hoped that they can make successful careers for themselves.

Carly's been in the bottom 2/3 often enough before. I don't think she's deserved to be, usually, but it's obvious she's not that popular with voters. Same with Syesha, who is a lesser talent anyway though she performed well on the most recent show.

I'm sorry Carly is gone but not surprised. She should have finished third based on talent.

AI is a total crap this season! im not shocked if it would be the lowest AI ever... and Syesha is a gem, AI will not diminish her potentials. plus though the david vs david is already inevitable that doesnt mean they are the best. and brooke suck! X(

Carly Smithson was Robbed!!, The Judges have for weeks been slamming Carly and Syesha while at the same time giving some of the weaker ones a free pass, trying to push the american public in a direction they want them to go. Why was this done?, So another mistake like Taylor Hicks Would not happen(if you don't know what I mean by that ask Simon Cowell). Carly had the best set of vocal pipes in the competition, with Syesha following after her. Both Davids are good, but David A. could do no wrong even when he messed up more than once were he mumbled in songs because he forgot the words , this would never have been tolerated in other performers. The Judges just ignored these and lavished praise not deserved on him. The Judges and America want a final with the 2 Davids, because this is a popularity contest and not a talent contest. My advise America is if you ever want to bring this back to being a Singing contest again, then America needs to take some music lessons and develop an ear, and then put a Judging panel of Musicians who don't have any business interests in who Wins.

How do we feel about Clay referring to himself in first-person plural?
