Our favorite 'SNL' moments of the season

Full story: Chicago Tribune

Can you blame them for a blatant victory lap? Yes, Saturday night's season finale to "Saturday Night Live" was more nostalgia-tinged and guest-stuffed than the entire previous season put together, but consider how much they have to celebrate: During the 34th season of "SNL," a show that never fails to solicit a "Saturday Night Dead" headline once a ...

Wow... the author of this article could not be more wrong about this season. While I've never been a huge fan of the show, at least previous seasons brought the funny on a semi-regular basis. There is not one redeeming quality of this season, which I hope will eventually go down in history in the bottom 5 of SNL's roller-coaster history.
I don't know if it's Lorne, the writers, the cast, NBC and/or the general public (for watching it) is to blame, but if I was an affiliate, I'd be either voicing displeasure or seeking another network affiliation.

I thought it was a great season. As someone who has watched off and on since 1975, this was a real comeback.

But I have to say, their Rod Blagojevich skits were AWFUL!

Right on and in an inside way I am glad that Lorne is failing at his own game. This guy is a major POS and uses comics fragile egos against one another. Check in with SNL alum like Harry Shearer and you will be enlightened with a behind the scenes look at this show. I have to give the guy props in a way though, for exposing some terrific comedians we probably would never have heard of if it not for him. Just B'g about the guys methods. IMHO of cours.

SNL is becoming too dependent on gueststars for the comedy. The regular cast is underwhelming--and the writers and producers realize what they are dealing with.

Also, if you have to revive the tired Sarah Palin stuff with a former cast member who was not a funny performer when she was on the show (nor has she gotten any better) there is a definite issue with the direction of the show.

SNL has been a piece of CR*P for years and years !!!

Please please let it die.

It just stinks

Occasionally they come up with a good skit or two...then it's replayed over and over during a Best of SNL show (usually during the same season).

For the love of God and everyhting you hold dear PULL THE PLUG !!!!

It's way past the stage of dieing with diginty !!!

Let It Go !!

Who watches this show anymore? It should be called
democrat night live because it's a show that promotes democrats under the guise of comedy.
It really hasn't been funny since Belushi left.
I'd prefer to watch an informercial, or the shamwow guy than
this pathetic show.
It's a shame they're afraid of making fun of Obama, they'd have more material than Bush gave them - but then, they would never make fun of their idol and messiah.

Aw, the conservative wingnuts don't like SNL - it makes too much fun of their idols. Get a life people - the reason SNL's satires of Sara Palin and the rest of the right-wing buffoons is because they are so comically absurd - and dangerous. If the wingnuts in the Republican party think Sara and Joe the Plumber are their saviors for 2012, we'll just bring back Tina Fey and demolish them again.

Right, they are banal and absurd. Sophomoric would be a step up.

I went an entire SNL episode without laughing. That marked the end of my interest in this show. With the exception of Bill Hader, Kristin Wiig, and Andy Samberg, this cast is unbelievably bland. Tina Fey's impression of Sarah Palin was overrated. It was only popular because belittling republicans has become a media past time. I love Andy Samberg but his Mark Wahlberg impression was pretty stupid. It was a far cry from the brilliance of "Roy Rules". Justin Timberlake is overrated too. He was good in the "D$ck in a box" and that's about it.

Some people will try to deny it but it's true. The whole Palin thing was only funny to Democrats. There was a political underbelly to that whole thing. It's a shame too because even Will Ferrell was able to poke fun at Bush while still appealing to the masses. It didn't seem as mean spirited. And don't get me started on the DELIBERATE and STRATEGIC dance they've been doing to avoid making Obama jokes.

Then anything that's not political ends up falling short. It's just not a funny show anymore. The few people that are good can't even save it.

I can't believe SNL is still on TV...the proverbial plug really needs to be pulled. For the few truly funny skits, there are 2, 3, 4 or more lame, lame, lame, lame, LAAAAAAMMMME others. *yawn*
