Many upscale restaurants backing off bottled water

Tap is fine but you must filter it somehow first.

San Francisco City water is GREAT. Straight form the Sierra Mountains. Another GREAT city water is Paris France - it beats the bottles stuff!

spell Evian backwards...

Good for these restaurants and their customers. It makes a lot more sense to just put the city/county tap water through a good RO filter then to do the whole bottle/ship/recycle steps.
Note - I live in an older section of Boca & put my water through two Brita/Pur filters before drinking. |

"Haven't you gone to a restaurant and they just expect you to order two or three bottles of water and it's $27 by the time you're done?"
$27 for two or three bottles of water? That's as bad as paying $200 for a bottle booze you can buy at the store for $35. I like nice things, but there is a limit to wasteful spending. |
Clever!! |

Wasn't it Channel 10 that did a story years ago on bottled water? They put a bunch of bottles in front of people who claimed they would drink nothing but, and could taste the difference. Most of the bottles were filled with tap. Guess what? Nobody could tell the difference!!! Buying bottles of water was, and still is, a trap for suckers.

I'd rather drink bottle water. Who knows if the restaurants filter their tap water.

We are sold a bill of goods that is a lie. That is that bottled water doesn't have an impact on the earth. I'm no activist but I know that a plastic bottle in a landfill isn't going to dissolve on it's own. Tastes better? Maybe. At what cost? And no there isn't any recycling where I live and work in East Fort Lauderdale. The bottled water industry clowns and their Washington lobbyists should be euthanized.(Not a threat just a practical solution).

Penn & Teller also debunked this by serving bottles of water filled out back from a garden hose, then touted as something special (meaning - expensive). Not one diner caught on. Virtually all the domestically produced bottled water originates from a municipal supply. Stop throwing away your money.

Kudos to them going back to tap water.
How about another scam.....has anyone noticed how much restaurants in SoFla charge for soda or iced tea? Most places charge $2.50 and the CheeseCake Factory now charges $2.75. When you eat out a lot...as we do...it ends up being an extra $5 per meal. I can almost buy two 12 packs of soda for that much!! I'm going to follow the advice of the restaurant owners...but I'm forgoing soda/tea for the free water!!!! |
|
|
Jeez. I thought they were gonna start charging for air.
|

|
Yeah try drinking Hialeah water straight from the tap yuck!
|
|
Better yet, who cares? Never mind that the pate they serve is actually Menu Brands cat food..... |
|
Take your $35 bottle bact to your TRAILER... The $200 is for what's going on around you DIP WAD. These restaurants have millions invested , decor, equipment ect... all for people who want it, if you can afford $200, then get your $35bottle from Walgreen's go back home and watch COPS in your TRAILER. |

|
Most bottled water IS filtered tap water.
Read the labels, folks! |
