Let's be thankful; it could be worse

Thanksgiving is still 45 days off, but I don't think we can wait until Nov. 27. Not with this turkey of a stock market massacring savings and 401 accounts, and an economy shedding jobs like a cheap suit.

This is a good reminder, to take a moment each day to be thankful for something. No matter how bad things are, there is something good in the clutter. I know some days I have to look real hard to find the good, but I try to. With the holidays approaching its hard not to think about loss, my parents, husband, siblings, job, money, my home.. all gone, but my daughter and I adapted each time. My dad's favorite saying was "I thought I had it bad cause I didn’t have any shoes, then I met a man with no feet" . I say that out loud everyday. This year, I am thankful for the strength and determination to keep working at turning it all back around.

Here's my gratitude list for today:
1. The gift of life.
2. My family- everybody on good terms & healthy.
3. My health- good.
4. My faith- I believe in a higher power.
4 My country- with many flaws, but still great. 5. My job- still employed.
6. My retirement account- down 50% but not broke.
7. My home- could use some repairs,but I'm warm/dry.
8. My friends.

Of course I have problems, but I choose to see my glass as half full rather than half empty.

No matter what happens in this November election, we will be replacing one turkey for another. The only question remains is: How dark will the turkey be?

Which means no matter who wins, race or gender, we are all in trouble.
