I think some of the laws are completely retarded....I know several girls who've lied about how old they were to older guys...Hell, my mother lied to a guy that she thought was the sweetest thing about my 15 yr old sisters age...My mother told him she was 17...He was 25! Thank god my sister is an honest person and told him the truth
you have a terible mother, why would she do this? also there are more child molesters on the sex offender registry than guys that were screwing around with some younger girl...please come on now?

Look at the news people. Especially in light of the recent headlines about the girl that was taken when she was 11 and forced to mother 2 kids by the SOB. This would not have happened if he was monitored more closely to begin with. He's already coming up with excuses why he did what he did. These people are cunning and will go to ANY length to not get caught and if they do it is usually not their first time commiting the crime. They will also justify it to themselves and try to justify it to others.

I think that anyone who is convicted, beyond a shadow of a doubt of a sex crime (in my opinion is any type of sexual act including just being naked with any child under the age of 17) should have restrictions imposed on them. They should have to let the public know where they live and work so we can keep our children safe. If forcing them to the fringe of society (as someone stated in a previous comment)increases the chance of a repeat offense then that's only more proof that the public needs to be aware.

Hurting a child needs stronger punishment if not lethal injection.

Well, we are indidated with news of these crimes 24/7 via T.V./ Radio / etc... If you pull up the map showing known sex offenders: it's a little too populated. In the old days a person's hand was cut off for stealing, to hurt an innocent child in such a way to scar them forever deserves the same for the abuser. If it's an illness they cannot stop; then lethal injection or their own prison where they can make something to cover their room & board. Problem is; too many people are falsely accussed & wrongfully imprisoned, so that may not be a solution. I just don't want to end up in prison myself should someone decide to go after one of mine.

<quoted text>
i don't think that's true, how do you know for certain that being registered has not stopped a sex crime? and what does "Jasonthefree" actually mean? are you telling us something here?
It is most definitely true, because if people want to do something they are going to do it. The penalties could be stronger for people who commit sex offenses, but registration will never and has never stopped a motivated person from committing a crime. In addition,/if the threat of capital punishment would stop people from committing capital murder then death row's across the country would be empty, but sadly it has not. To go even further, registered sex offenders are not the people committing new sex offenses by in large throughout the country, they are new offenders, people not on the registry. That is the statistic both before and after registration laws. Megan's Law has been purposeless, and continues to be a topic to get officials re-elected. btw... "jasonthefree" is a name I use in reference to the life I have found in Christ as a born again Christian. "Whom the Son sets free is free indeed".
Would you like us to alert you when someone adds a comment?

Daily Horoscope for January 7

Capricorn

You'll have difficulty finding equilibrium in your emotional life at the moment; try to control the impulsive side of your character. At work, your usual powers of intuition will be clouded. Fits of feverishness may bother you and break down your energy. If you can get out into the countryside for a walk, you'll feel much better.
