Well if you are, definitely not in Copperfield's league and if you are trying to be Dickensesque you are not there either :) The BBC article that you posted was in 1975 which is veryyyyyy out dated Here is the BBC report in 2005 clearing Nguyen Van Thieu name. http://www.bbc.co.uk/vietnamese/vietnam/story... Further, the Vietnam state controlled Tuoi Tre (in Jan 2006) reported that in June 1975 audit confirmed there were NO missing gold in the Central Bank. Thieu and 3 tons of gold http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9... Thieu and 16 tons of gold by the BBC Oh boy, here we go again. For some strange reasons, your obsession with the gold is a bit extreme and creepy, might I add. Your propaganda techniques only work on people who are illiterate. Read your own article that you posted first before making up stories. “There were reports that the ex-President had shipped 3½ tons of gold (2½ by sea, one by air) to Europe. THE STORIES COULD NOT BE CONFIRMED.” Even though your comment is insignificant, but just for the sake of your discussion, would you be so kind and prove your own “theory”. What’s the evidence of Nguyen Van Thieu “wanted to steal but did not succeed”? Were there any eyewitness accounts that could verify your story? Btw, no VC sources please because their credibility is not trustworthy :-) And let’s just say that there was such things as the three tons of gold, how did you know that they didn’t belong to Mr. Nguyen Van Thieu’s personal assets? Well, he was a very wealthy man back in his days. Based on what fact do you assume that the gold belong to the State, especially when the stories could not be confirmed. Well, at least it was established that the 16 tons of gold were still at the Central Bank and handed over to your government. The interesting question should be: What did they do with the gold? VC mentality: Vu`a an cuop, vu`a la lang.:-)

Well, at least it was established that the 16 tons of gold were still at the Central Bank and handed over to your government. The interesting question should be: What did they do with the gold? VC mentality: Vu`a an cuop, vu`a la lang.:-) Frauelein NguyenVanThieu wanted to steal but according to your own source TranVanHuong did not allowed the gold to be shipped out of Vietnam. That is the story about the 16 tons of gold. About the 3 tons. No proof that the gold remained in Vietnam like the 16 other tons of gold and no proof that it was in Thieu's possession abroad. So as long as there is no proof whatsoever, i am sure that people will raise the question again and again until it is verified. It's like the assassination of JF Kennedy. the question will be raised by generations to come too. As for me posting again and again about the 3 tons of gold, it is to show every one that accusing the government of Vietnam of stealing billion of dollars without proof is a joke. You need to bring proof of a bank that keeps the money for them. Any way, I think you are not one of those hard headed people who would say any thing without some solid proof. One last thing. NguyenVanThieu was rich in land but not in dollars or gold. He had an army salary all his life before he became president for 8 years. Where did he get all the dollars to live confortably for almost 30 years without working. The land and houses he owned he left behind.

You really should learn to corroborate your position from more than one source before you post. http://www.tuoitre.com.vn/Tianyon/Index.aspx... You claim you have a brain, if so you should understand the debit and credit process of a banking system. The Vietnam controlled media already reported that Vietnam Central bank final audit proved all the books matched and balanced. Which mean 16 tons of gold NOT 18 tons as rumor was in place. So your obsession with Nguyen van Thieu's 3 tons of gold again is proven baseless hearsay. If you want to debate further then better read more of YOUR OWN GOVERNMENT'S DOCUMENTS before making a fool of yourself as usual. As I mentioned in my previous post, the document you gave was very outdated 1975 article. BBC already released a 2005 report about the gold. http://www.bbc.co.uk/vietnamese/vietnam/story... Lastly Vietnam government controlled Tuoi Tre also confirmed with VN officers comment about the issue http://www.tuoitre.com.vn/Tianyon/Index.aspx... And you still wanted to stick with 1975 report?!!. Maintaining that position simply proves you are mentally backwards or totally biased and unable to learn with the times. Since you cannot follow links why don't you ask Le Duc Anh former VHXHCNVN this question. He was one of the first military personnel that accepted the surrender of Saigon and has to face the judgment of history about tons of gold belong to Central bank of VNCH which lined the pocket of which of the VC generals?

While a number of Saigon's deposed leaders are likely to seek refuge in the U.S., the most prominent of them has vowed that he will go elsewhere. Ex-President Nguyen Van Thieu was on Taiwan last week along with his wife, daughter and 89-year-old mother (and ten tons of baggage). The first family of the refugees was staying at the home of Nguyen Van Kieu, Saigon's Ambassador to Taiwan, in suburban Tienmu. The sprawling gray stone building was concealed behind a high wall. Before it stood casually dressed Chinese security officers who could have passed for college students but for the antennas sticking out of the newspaper-wrapped walkie-talkies that they carried. Though Secretary of State Henry Kissinger said last week that if Thieu wished asylum in the U.S. "he would of course be received," associates of the former President quoted Thieu as saying he was "very angry" with the American Government because it "did not honor its commitment to South Viet Nam." The South Vietnamese embassy in London confirmed that Thieu's twelve-year-old son is in school in England, adding to speculation that the rest of the family might move there. Another possibility is Switzerland, where Thieu is rumored to own a villa. There were reports that the ex-President had shipped 3½ tons of gold (2½ by sea, one by air) to Europe. The stories could not be confirmed. Former South Vietnamese Premier and Vice President Nguyen Cao Ky apparently has no qualms about settling in the U.S. Having told a Saigon rally only one day earlier that those who left the country were "cowards," Air Vice Marshal Ky commandeered a helicopter the day before the surrender and personally piloted it onto the deck of the U.S.S. Blue Ridge. Ky's wife had already passed through Guam and Honolulu en route to San Francisco with a party of some 13 women and children; Mrs. Ky was staying with relatives in the Bay Area last week. Should Ky and any of his high-ranking colleagues similarly land on American shores, they would not be confounded by red tape. The Attorney General has used his "parole power" to ensure entry into the country of all Vietnamese who run a "high risk" of retaliation at the hands of the Communists. A similar provision has already enabled Cambodia's former President Lon Nol to settle in a comfortable suburb of Honolulu, where last week he was going through the process of obtaining a driver's license and a U.S. Social Security number. In summary, the "Nguy" leaders were greedy and stole their army's resources and caused the USA to give up, dumping the VNCH.
The Vietnam Communist Party were not greedy and did not steal anything from the Vietnam People Army. Thus VPA recieved a lot more aids from Soviet Union and China.
After the war, the VCP rewared themselves with a little bit of the spoils they confiscated from the corrupted "Nguy" leaders and you "Nguy" guys got mad? They were the winner and deserved all of the rewards.
