I installed my own flatscreen above a bedroom fireplace, having never done anything like that. You definitely want to take your time, but it can be done by anybody in my opinion. My remodeling contractor for some reason spaced studs above my bedroom fireplace too far apart, which I correct in the pictures at the link above.
