Instead of packing up some clothes and moving in with her boyfriend, this one decides to crawl into her computer, but she did leave in her own way.

LW1 - aside from what Amy suggested, why doesn't he remove all computers from the house and take away her ability to purchase a new one?

LW2 - Add "that's so gay" to the list right after "retarded."

LW3 - I'm going to pretend I didn't even read this one.

"Ironically, there are many online sources of support for online gaming addiction." I'm sure you meant to say "paradoxically" since there is no humor in this situation.

This husband is an uber-loser. He sits by while his wife cheats on him and plays video games all day with the money that he earns (I'm assuming she doesn't work if she plays games all day), and he has to take care of the kids and house. Unplug that computer and make the woman get a job!

LW1: Buy a baseball bat and smash the game. Then have a conversation with your wife. She will probably scream and yell so respond in like fashion. If she buys a new game, then continue buying baseball bats.

Don't worry this pattern will not continue as your letter is a fake.

Irony isn't necessarily humorous, despite the popular understanding of the word. It's more about the disparity between the expected and the actual. You would expect that those who treat online gaming addiction would try to get gamers offline, but actually, they post their resources online--ironic.

Ironically, your correction of Amy's usage was incorrect.

The same thing is happening to my daughter with her computer. She is divorced and her husband has no interest in the kids.
I live in another state and I have talked to the States Atty, he said my getting a lawyer would do go good.Unless she is abusing them, and neglecting them to cause direct harm...there is nothing I can do.
She sends the 15 year old to do the food shopping and banking.
But she has a very angry 13 year old son, who may end up in trouble because of his anger. If he does, she should go to jail..not him.
I assure liner this is a real problem across all lines of society. No one had to make this story up.

I am trying to visualize what a man who would put up with this situation. Is he as small, weak and spineless looking as he sounds or is he a big manly, man that the outside world would never suspect he would live in this manner.

OK, Amy is recycling content for 2/3 of her "column" today. Wish I could phone in my work like that.

LW1: You haven't figured this one out yourself yet? And to top it off, you're asking AMY for help? Heaven help you, my friend, if you are in fact real.

LW3: Amy's advice here is horrible. Everyone needs to conform to HER wishes?

LW1 - I call B.S. on this one. Who would tolerate their spouse playing on the computer 12-15 hours a day. Doesn't someone work to earn money in this household? Assuming it's the person who's NOT on the computer, how in the world would the gamer feel justified in sitting on their butt all day long? Furthermore, how in the world would the gamer feel justified in not participating in their family life AT ALL?

This one is way too out there, must be fake.

a kiss on the lips isn't appropriate in any setting with "clients"
Air kisses on the cheeks, depending on the culture, but even that is weird by American standards.
I find forcefully extending my hand straight at their solar plexus for a shake stops them dead as they swoop in for the kiss/bear hug -
keeps them from physical contact and isn't rude whatsover - just the American Way.

I don't play video games, but since this is described as an "online" game, why doesn't he just cancel his internet connection? Would she be unable to play the game after that?
