I got a PS3 60 gig from Best Buy today and the console won't eject its disc. The eject button doesn't even seem to register the touch of my finger, so I don't think it's a disc jam. Thank you Sony for making the hours upon hours I spent trying to track down a PS3 so worthwhile. Does anybody here know what could be wrong or what to do? I already notified Sony and they are sending a box for me to fill with my PS3, the controller and the wires and a receipt so that they can send me a brand new 60 gig console. Still, who knows how long it will be before I receive the console and whether the new one will work.

I have the same problem. The CD won't release until you pry it out of the slot. What a joke. Besides that, I found out the PS3 doesn't support the NTFS file system, so transferring data from my Windows PC won't work. Looks like the Xbox is the way to go.

As you can see skaterkid is a looser with no life. Ive never had a problem with my PS3 yet to date *knock on wood* I purchased mine on black friday. never tried the file xfer stuff. but i noticed on some PS3's the plastic will need to be replaced round the CD/DVD drive....that may be one of those things SONY replaces when they get a recall out...if they ever do it.

Seriously people should stop going on rumours, Most stores have the gaming system ina small box locked up tight and running 24/7 for weeks and then it freezes no shit pardon my language. I have a ps3 for 1 month now and its been hooked up and online 24/7 and ive played for 11 hours straight Resistance without a break and the system rocks. The Xbox 360 when i first bought not long ago October had to be returned 2 times to best buy in the first month.
1st Problem: The system just would not boot up or start up after 8 days. Dead Best buy simply replaced it.
After 2 weeks guess what i guess the system was hungry cause it litteraly scratched the living shit out of the dvd in the drive. Bestbuy guy told me it happens after 3 hours of play consecutivly. Well they replaced the game after me bitching for a long time.

Long story short PS3 just came out i so far have no issues and the xbox being out 1 year still has some weird issues.
So chances are both system will have issue till maybe the 2nd or 3rd year. Sorry to rant but both systems are same and cost the same after the first year but people be fair and compare identical systems add HD-DVD and 1 year subscription and see which one is cheaper.

These comments should be moderated but if it wasn't for people flamming these sights would not get their advertissing dollars.

PS Sorry i can't spell ;) Both systems are good and hopefully both systems have good life span and make money cause if there was no competition we would be paying 500$ more for these systems.

I have owned the Xbox 360, Wii and now have a PS3. By far the best is the PS3. I saw the 360 as a games machine, the Wii as a novelty and the PS3 as an entertainment center. It is by far the most versatile system, with the huge (upgradeable)HDD, memory card slots, USB ports and Wi-fi. The Wii had Wi-Fi but didn't use it to a great extent. People talk of Blu-ray as a gimmick, but without it, PS3 games wouldn't be possible. Resistance: Fall of Man uses 22GB of disk space - imagine trying to fit that on a DVD.
If you have the money, buy a PS3. The games are a little slow to kick off, but in the next month or two we will have some truly next-gen software to play.

Never had any such problem with my PS3, it's just a slot loader that was already faulty. It's quite solid if it works. Send it back to Sony, and if its replacement is without fault, just be careful when you're slotting discs in and out.

my damn kid shoved a bunch of coins into the disc slot and now it just makes a bunch of noise when trying to eject the disc. I don't suggest taking it apart to see if you have a foreign object in the drive, the best thing is to just send it to sony.

P.S. I've had way more problems with my 360 than my ps3. ps3 is the way to go.

People are forgetting that technology is changing, so will the devices that hold them and support them..Blu-ray is the next step up from DVDs more Room to add on ridiculous sick graphics and levels in games and beyond...PS3 is great the problem is Game developers need to get their butts on blu ray use its capacity to create sick games, but its coming... The Hd on da Blu-ray in the Ps3 is dope! Blu-ray is going to dominate the markets soon, its already in the rich peeps homes, before us! the slot could be a number of reasons. faulty while in da manufacturing factory or during shipment banging around...Just like humans machines as well can be faulty! difference u can replace da machine... ps..loving the SIXXaxis! "Army of Two" is a great Two player game (especially for those who have spouses)..my better half n i play it all da time..
