Can someone please shed some light as to why our playstation keeps timing out when checking internet settings on setting up wireless. Have inputed the security key, ip address etc but it keeps on timing out. Broadband technicians are not able to help as they have had no training yet. Who or what do we try next?

Try testing your network settings, this will show you which part on the connection is failing.

It does a check of all the settings as you go.

Make sure that your PS3 isn't located too far away from the wireless router or it will give up on your connection, deeming it too slow to connect. A signal strength of about 80% or above should be fine. Check your signal strength in the internet connection settings menu.

Hi Lena and Brownie
Connecting via wireless, first off make sure your wep encryption is turning off on your router, then under network connections on the PS3, make the connection via wireless, then turn wep encryption on (Router) and then input your wireless details into the PS3 i.e wep key.

This is how I did mine.

Hi cababal
the PS3 does not require a internet connector as it is already equiped with a lan and wireless connections as standard.

only thing you need is the wep key from your router, if you have put the wep encryption on that is.

I can't get an internet connection.
Does the ethernet cable go from the ps3 to the hard drive of my computer or into the modem?

Baz you need a crossover ethernet cable, as a normal ethernet cable will not work direct to your PC's ethernet port, the other way is a router.

Kane

An SSID is also referred to as a network name because essentially it is a name that identifies a wireless network.

I think you do, as you need to log in.

My connection to the server resets sometimes when it gets busy.
