I had a devils job trying to find an email address that could put me through to the right place, if not, could you forward this on to the right one please.
My name is Robert Lofthouse, and the reason for me writing to you today, is to propose the idea of an addition to the MoH series.
A brief outline, the Falklands campaign in 1982 between Argentina and the UK, was over the rights to the islands with are situated just 300 miles from Argentina. The conflict itself was rather short yet bloody, culminating in a series of brutal, low-tech infantry battles in terrible weather, and with limited equipment. These events alone, i feel are the foundations of a very successful first person shooter.
At this time , i am a serving infantry sergeant in the British army, but also an avid historian of this conflict with an un-biased eye to what took place there, and since the Argentines gave a very good account of themselves, both in the air with the suicidal bravery of their fighter pilots, and also the soldiers slugging it out in the mountains against the British. This itself showed that the British didn't have it all their own way, which will make a unique twist in this episode.....you can fight on the Argentinian side!
What i have listed below are what i feel would make fantastic missions for the player, and with some historical accuracy, will increase its credibility. The missions listed are in chronological order, and include Argentinian missions also.
1.As Argentinian special forces you attack moody brook barracks and government house in the capital, Port Stanley.
2.As Royal Marines, you defend Government House.
3.As the captain of the nuclear sub, HMS Conqueror, you sink the General Belgrano.
4.As a harrier pilot, you attack Port Stanley airport.
5.As a British harrier pilot, you dogfight against enemy fighters
6.As an Argentinian skyhawk pilot, you dogfight against harriers.
7.As an Argentinian pilot, you attack HMS Sheffield with Exocet missile.
8.As the SAS, you raid Pebble Island airfield.
9.As an Argentine pilot, you attack British ships at anchor in San Carlos water.
10.As a Royal Navy sailor, you defend the ships with machine guns.
11.2 PARA attack Goose Green.
12.SBS raid on Top Malo House.
13.As an Argentine pilot, you attack the Sir Galahad.
14.3 PARA attack Mount Longdon
15.45 Commando, Royal Marines attack Two Sister mountain.
16.42 Commando, Royal Marines attack Mount Harriet.
17.Scots Guards attack Mount Tumbledown.
18.2 PARA attack Wireless Ridge.
Argentine forces surrender.
The fighting mainly took place at night, with the exception of the air battles. The ground fighting was low-tech infantry battles, which boiled down to just machine guns, rifles, grenades, and the bayonet! Limited soldiers on both sides, had night viewing aids, and as the battles continued, it would start to get light, and would continue in broad daylight, and its this experience, that the consumer will enjoy, brutal, in your face, and bloody.
Bonus levels, could involve the "what if" battle in the streets of Port Stanley, which thankfully, never took place. This bonus level could be fought on either side. Also, lets not rule out the Zombie twist, such as you the Argentine soldier defending Mount Londgon from demonic paratroopers, for whom move in the darkness and throw themselves at you when a flare illuminates the mountainside. All the levels stated above, have multi player potential.
I am more than willing to offer my services as an advisor on this conflict, since it has been mostly forgotten, due to Iraq and Afghanistan.
I hope this idea for a new episode in the MoH series appeals to you, and I sincerely hope you give this venture your serious consideration.
And I look forward to hearing from you soon,
